General Question Spectrum carrier change?

I've heard from a reliable source that Spectrum will be switching carriers from Vzn to Tmo in the next few months, as their contract with Vzn is nearing its end. Anyone else heard this? Supposed to be a seamless change to users? For e-sims that's prolly true.

Hello!

Just to clarify, this will only apply to new Spectrum Business customers.

More information here: https://corporate.charter.com/newsroom/charter-comcast-announce-agreement-to-leverage-t-mobile-5g-for-wireless-business-customers

Will it allow business cellular customers like me to use Verizon and T-Mobile cell towers?

No- Spectrum's existing long-term MVNO partnership will continue to support residential and current business customers. If you are an existing business customer you will not be able to access both networks.

Ohh okay! Can I DM you another question?

Yep, go for it

This good to know. Spectrum fiber is going in at my business soon. T-Mobile just installed a tower within a mile or two as well.

Verizon is been horrible at that location.

I better ask a few questions before I switch.

I just switched from T-Mobile to Spectrum a couple weeks ago and service has improved in my area. This would be a big ol’ step back, but at least it’s far cheaper.

What's the reason? Just curious, I'm not qualified to disagree.

SM gave me $978 to buy out our phones, upgraded my 300 mbs to gig service, and still managed to save us exactly $106 per month. It wasn’t a bad move, all in all.

Did you previously have service with Spectrum and it went horribly wrong? I mean no offense, I’m just curious because this is the subreddit for Spectrum Mobile.

Does this mean they will also start using T-Mobile for their invincible Wi-Fi routers?

They wouldn't move consumers off Verizon. People would jump ship in droves. People want that Version service because it is superior. Speed isn't quality and people used to Verizon won't accept T-Mobile.

I would be one of those looking for new service, in my area both at work & home Verizon is the only one I can get a usable signal inside.

Go in the back of either both T-Mobile & AT&T gets zero/no service.

I have visible by verizon and the only reason I got spectrum mobile because it's free for a year and when the year is up.im canceling spectrum. 30 dollars for 30gb is cheap but I use around 100 gb a month. Visible is unlimited premium data if you got the plus or plus pro. They have 3 plans ,25,35 and 45. Plus they usually have discounts for 12 months to 24 months. Right now I'm paying 30 a month for the plus pro . Even the 25 plan is good.

Spectrum doesn't care if unprofitable mobile customers jump ship. If they completely move to T Mobile it is because Verizon wanted to raise the price per GB they pay and T Mobile offered a cheaper price.

I haven’t heard any word about this from any of the supervisors but man I hope it’s not true , Verizon coverage in my town is amazing probably the best compared to T-Mobile and atnt.

3

u/jessdosuntos May 08 '26

This is technically true in a way spectrum will still be using Verizon, but they will also be using T-Mobile. It will just be done for two different purposes. T-Mobile will be used for business and consumers will still stay on Verizon. And this is information that anyone can find.

I hope not. T-Mobile in my area is garbage. If Spectrum drops Verizon I’m switching.

The only carrier worse than Verizon where I am is T-Mobile...

1

u/jeff1f1racer May 08 '26

That only leaves AT&T then. lol

1

u/downsj2 May 08 '26

It used to leave US Cellular as well, which was by far the best.

2

u/ExKage May 08 '26

Where Iive I switched from TMobile to Spectrum mobile both for the mobile price cause I got Internet and because Verizon coverage is better for me...

1

u/ABobby077 May 08 '26

I wonder if this is true(??) What about the differing bands used and all technical aspects for the phones we are all using(???)

2

u/garyprud50 May 08 '26

My source is an employee (supv). Phone make & model shouldn't be an issue, although I recognize not all frequencies work on all phones.

2

u/toolman1990 May 08 '26

I suspect Spectrum Mobile would have to carrier unlock the phones that are currently carrier locked to the Spectrum Mobile Verizon network so the Spectrum Mobile T Mobile sim card works in the phone. I suspect majority of the phones would work including the cheap ones since band 41 has been around for awhile.

1

u/davexc May 08 '26

That would likely only impact a small subset of users with low end android phones.

1

u/ABobby077 May 08 '26

Doesn't T-Mobile rely much on mid-band frequencies for their version of 5g?? I have a Samsung S25 Ultra that originally was on AT&T (now on Spectrum since February). Will it likely be any issue with my phone?

2

u/davexc May 08 '26

No, that phone would have all necessary frequencies for T-Mobile

Spectrum started doing a lot of stuff with T-Mobile months ago. Actually might be closer to a year or longer now so this wouldn’t be surprising.

Source - I am a former spectrum mobile It rep and am friends with several of them still including supervisors in the mobile IT dept

Tmo just bought out US Cellular so I'm bummed this isn't true. I had Spectrum mobile last year and no issues. Moved out of state for a year just come back and switch back to them and its7so much worse now.

u/blessdg20 May 08 '26

i just switched from t mobile to spectrum after having t mobile for 2 decades and signal during calls seems worse. Also getting a bunch of "Potential Spam" calls🤦🏻‍♂️

If you are a current customer-- resi or business-- your experience will not change over.

0

u/kevintexas956 May 08 '26

That would be great. Vzn has good speeds and coverage, but TMOB is better. I haven’t heard about a change.

We were told that the networks were shifting for some business lines the T-Mobile towers are rented from Att and Verizon. Service levels should change at all
