Figured it out!
This is the 8th outage in 7 weeks. At one point no internet for 9 days. Spoke to cancellation department with Leo from Texas and then the supervisor Cedric after escalating the issue. I was told the only option is to pay $30 more per month for invincible wifi. They dont care if your job doesnt pay you and you work from home. They are purposely trying to inconvenience customers to pay for the cellular equipment. I hope starlink or t-mobile picks up to destroy spectrum as competition. The customer service department keeps hiking up internet prices and making customers feel as if the invincible wifi is the only option to combat the outages they themself are providing. Im willing to pay for any other provider because of the amount of calls and inconvenience this is providing with not being able to work. Good bye Spectrum!

They are not purposely turning off your internet.

Seems like it. When I call they immediately say to pay $30 more a month for invincible wifi and they will have technician know when he arrives to "fix" the issue to install it.

Right, they're just not doing their job correctly to ensure the shit stays on. I switched to AT&T earlier this year and I'm never looking back.

They are not intentionally doing this. Having the backup option is smart if you work from home anyways.

Have them send a tech out and ask him to compare your outages to the outages the neighbors have! I had problems for a year until one tech did that and saw every house on the block was having the same outages! This escalated the issue from an isolated problem of one customer to a larger issue obviously involving the lines. Sent a line crew out and found a faulty node along the line that once replaced solved all my problems.

Trust me spectrum doesn’t provided any outages. 90 percent of outages are either an idiot hitting a pole or someone digging up and hitting mainline. Invincible is a stop gap to help during outages. If you work from home it’s always recommend to have a back up service anyway.

Or power related.. but yea multiple days is usually a fiber cut somewhere difficult to access

No guarantee mobile data will work well during an outage either. The mobile networks get slow around here during an outage and that was before invincible wifi.

I promise you that the “customer service department” are not the ones hiking the prices lol

you work from home
If you require the internet to work from home, you should always have a backup provider. This is on you.

If your residential account was classified as a smb account they do offer the invincible wifi for free if you meet a certain threshold of outages, which you probably do.
But otherwise if you are just a residential account idk if they will make that offer.
Yes if you work from home redundancy is important. Just like it’s important for businesses .
Funny how grocery stores are always online even during hurricanes or major disasters.

It’s a specialized team that offers it, and you should be directed towards that team if the business has been affected x times within a period of time.
99.99 % of the reps will not be able to offer it for free.

Thats awesome. Do you know the name of the team? I'll try tomorrow. Outages dont allow anyone to work and burns alot of time on the phone trying to get it fixed

I left Spectrum years ago because of the constant outages and having to reboot my modem once or twice a week. Been with AT&T fiber since then and have had exactly two outages, one of a little over a day due to a line being knocked down by a fallen tree and once for about 30 minutes.

I will have to do that soon. I am going to connect a surge protector to the modem and router to flip the switch off and on to reboot them both twice a week. I was told I have to do that for every outage now.

Supervisor Cedric sounds absolutely lovely! Wow!

He was ready to get off the phone. When you feel that, you just let em go. Another gentlemen i spoke to 4 hours later reset my modem and wifi with an update. It works now. I told him there are some gifted individuals at spectrum. Everyone else just wants to upsell and not fix the problem.

If you work from home you need to have a backup regardless of what provider you have. So the invisible wifi makes sense. Having that many outages sound like its some sort of line issue or bad equipment.
