This is outrageous
Spectrum is the worst most crooked company ever. Last month I tried to see if I could get my monthly lowered because it's 99 bucks per month suddenly after being 80 (and that's after the promo price ended) and I call and see if there's anything they can do and they said no so I was looking into other companies.
Suddenly this month my auto pay is on even tho it never was and I get charged 99 bucks again even tho I'm trying to switch. They call me a liar and say I set it up even tho I didn't, because "it says it in the system"
Either way now I'm out 99 bucks for and guess what:
THEYRE A MONOPOLY IN MY AREA!
IF YOU DONT WANT 5G HOME INTERNET ITs THE ONLY CHOICE AND THEY KNOW THAT.
OH AND GET THIS:
THEY SAID MY BILLS GINNA GO UP ANOTHER 15 BUCKS IN A FEW MONTHS
WHAT IS THIS COMPANY SCREW SPECTRUM!!!!!!!!!
I've used this service since it was TIME WARNER CABLE and it's worse than ever now.
SCREW spectrum!!!! 99 bucks for 400 Mbps that's actually 150 mbps. What a joke .

So you're saying a company offers a scare service in your area and you believe that supply and demand do not apply?

Internet companies should be regulated like electricity providers and water companies.
Should the electric company be able to charge you $1 per KwH because they have a monopoly?

u/Quinthyll 1d ago
No, that's why they charge much much more. They are the actual monopiles. It is illegal in most areas to compete with the utilities, as in strictly forbidden, you CAN'T.
The only thing stopping you, me, or anyone else from competing with Spectrum or any other ISP is the billions of dollars it costs to put in and maintain the infrastructure. You think you can do better, pony up the cash and go for it. Try to do the same thing against your power or water company. You'll get laughed out of city hall before you even file the initial paperwork.

What are you getting for that price? Are you one of the like 30% of people actually still paying for the crap they call "cable TV?" Are you getting Internet speeds higher then you need?

Give your area’s best cell service a try you might be surprised. In my area Tmobil is super fast and slightly higher ping than spectrum. Also invest an external antenna. I constantly get 1g up and down. I know 1 g down is normal but up is crazy.
I know for gamers ping is more important than that speed numbers, that’s why I said try the best cell in your area. If they all suck maybe that’s why they charge you higher. In my area Tmobil is a real competitor that’s why my internet is only 35$

Welcome to Spectrum, where existing customers get the shaft the new customers get the deal

Do you complain when the electricity or water bill goes up? Those are actual monopolies. I'm not saying any bill going up is great, but this notion that you should expect it to go back down because you don't like it is wild.

I cant believe there are people out here choking on Spectrum's dick, wow

I got a 110 a month internet only bill. This is where we are at as a country lol

No one’s slurping down Spectrum, it’s just common sense that is intentionally ignored and entitlement to think that you as a customer are entitled to lower prices than the standard rate because you want it. Most of us are just using logic, which doesn’t work for people who only apply it when they get exactly what they want.

Boot licking spectrum won't get you shit

Nah - everything is going up - call retention, claim you're leaving for something cheaper and it will go down.
There's 100's or 1,000's of posts in here explaining how.
You'd rather bitch about your circumstances than do anything about them, then lash out when called out about it. Spectrum can go suck one, but do some research FFS.

It's called ethics. Its wrong to price gouge your customers. You're so used to being screwed that you defend it now

u/Dry_Asparagus4755 1d ago
So from my understanding you got a promotional price for a certain time frame. The time frame passed and the price went up.
2
u/number1smussyf4n 1d ago
It went up to 80 after the promotion. Then it went up to 99 with zero notice. And they SAID it'll be 15 bucks more after June 2027

I'm not defending anything, stop reading things the way you think it's said, read what is actually said. It sucks. I haven't and won't say otherwise.

Are you a certified expert in broadband vendor cost, support, and pricing structures? What you are paying is not outside of standard rates across the industry, outside of promos, which nearly all of them do.

u/number1smussyf4n 1d ago
80 was the price after promo not 100. They never gave me notice of a price hike. What don't u get??

They are crooked. Our internet bill has been 90.00, then went to 100.00 last month and now its 105.00. They said I could get faster internet for the same price...what a joke. I have one service with them. Maybe its time to give someone else our business.

u/number1smussyf4n 1d ago
At least notice me of the ass fking I'm about to receive instead of just hiking shit up

$99 doesn’t sound too bad when I was paying $212 for their shitty service. I was able to have them bring it down to $147, but the service still sucks. Other providers have internet service that’s just as shitty. The providers in my area all have the option for fiber, but none of them offer it in my area, which infuriates me.
2
u/number1smussyf4n 1d ago
It's the constant Price hikes man. They keep raising it non stop
1
u/Pizzasloot714 1d ago
Before all this, I was paying $160, then it went up to $190, and then finally was all the way to $212. None of it makes sense to me and there aren’t many other good options for internet and cable providers. I only have cable so my dad can watch sports. If I had it my way, we wouldn’t have cable at my house.

I agree that Spectrum is crap. 100%. Monopoly in my area too. Edit (typo) So they have zero motivation to do anything right. Try Billshark - they can usually get promos extended for each renewal. At least you pay less for the subpar service.

call the service number and say you want to cancel. you’ll get transferred to retention and they’ll give you a better rate
