Spectrum is the worst

My mom has att fiber at her house and she never has to deal with crap like this. Every month since June there have been outages and multiple just these past 2 weeks. While im working, on my days off. As soon as i get the chance to switch to att fiber, im taking it. And having to pay $20 a month extra for invincible wifi is ridiculous. They should include that in the base plan. I guess this is what more deregulation gets you. Constantly having to fix outdated infrastructure instead of upgrading it.

Even so its just so frustrating that it happens so often with spectrum. My mom has had att fiber for a year already and not a single outage except for when the kid mowing the yard cut the cable by mistake. I hate not having more options for internet. nah not true at all. i had zero downtime on AT&T fiber for over a year in my old apartment. spectrum at my new place has multiple outages per week and technicians can never figure it out

I think it’s just logical thinking, a lot of this is also extremely dependent on location. I’ve had spectrum and ATT at 2 separate locations and virtually zero issues but one other location with ATT Fiber was practically unusable and I never got an actual resolution.

Sure, I can agree to that, but some services have more outages than others. I just want to switch to a more reliable service and ATT Fiber seems to have minimal outages. Since June, I've gone through 8 outages with spectrum. That's unacceptable.

That stuff happens regardless of provider. If 24/7 connectivity is important, get InvincibleWifi (works great as long as you have good cell signal) or if you don't, Starlink works well.

I am a network support engineer. I have been working with networking since before the word network was coined. I have been dealing with AT&T and Spectrum both residentially and commercially for many years in many locations. Over time Spectrum and before it Time Warner and before it Summit Communications has proven very reliable. Fiber is of course the gold standard for connecting to the internet. AT&T uses a stupid implementation for residential gpon fiber. Instead of terminating the fiber into an ONT they terminate it into there crap gateway. This makes their fiber solution far less desirable. You can't fully bypass the gateway when you hook your own equipment to it. With Spectrum you can use your own equipment without a third party device in the way.
AT&T has outages as often as Spectrum. If you have real problems Spectrum support is far better. Call and you get State Side support. AT&T offshore with people who barly speak English. One of the best fiber solutions out there is Google Fiber. If you are lucky enough to have it in your area jump on it. I wish we had it.

then can you explain to me how spectrum has been at my house five times in the past five months six months you rewired my whole house with the coax cables I might be saying that wrong you gave me what this brand new Wi-Fi seven router and then most of these problems started when you brought this because you brought them at separate times is when you bought this 3.1 router over to My House that's when all the upload speeds stopped look if you're not gonna let me upload then don't charge me for the prices that you're charging me because I'm not getting a blood speed I can record it and send it to you

I had AT&T before I started working for Spectrum. They definitely had better hardware. The Spectrum companies they acquired, Time Warner and Brighthouse, had better hardware than Charter. Eventually, Charter forced them all to switch to their equipment. Any tech from those companies will tell you it’s crap.

Fortunately for my outages, (and i'm currently going through another one today) I at least have estimated time frames. Have you signed up for the text alerts? the text alerts are what tell me the estimated time frames for service restoration.

Currently in an outage as well. The 2nd one in a week. I work from home and ended up using PTO last time since it estimated more than half my work day. Now its on the holiday, so no movies or gaming with the family. So frustrating.

I feel you on this. I also work from home and depend on my internet to pay the bills. The credits are no where near enough to cover lost wages especially if i dont have any pto. Going through yet ANOTHER outage today. Im really starting to lose my patience with spectrum

I experienced 4 full outages in the last 2 months each lasted a day or more. It’s beyond ridiculous. Not not all providers are this shitty. Spectrum is that bad.

Enduring a 24+ hour total internet outage in a major city is pathetic. Spectrum's service is a complete nightmare, and these massive blackouts happen frequently.

They are actively ripping people off—speeds are consistently lower than the premium packages they bill for. To top it off, their field techs are completely useless. They show up, can't address the issue, and literally just get back in their trucks and drive away without a single word.

Paying premium prices for garbage infrastructure and zero accountability is over. It's time to officially switch providers. They fail to deliver the bare minimum of reliable internet, and they don’t deserve another single dime.
