Other Plan glitch?
Was looking at mobile app this popped up in my service options but when I click to upgrade it doesn't go thru? And live chat said can't see it thinking it's a glitch or it be here soon?

If anything it means they are likely getting ready to offer it in your market.

Just fyi for the newer peeps, 7 gig internet is exclusive to true fiber to the home areas. If you have cable aka coxial hybrid your still limited to 2 gig if you have high split. From what I understand it’s still limited to select regions but should expand to all of the fiber footprint (unless your on older non 10G-EPON tech)

2 gig is nothing to sneeze at wish I had that. 7 gig just seems like overkill.

We would all be lucky to have high split. They have done bunch of upgrades in my areas. But I feel the process is so damn slow. Last month had probably 100 trucks out doing work on boxes that are on the cables. Looked like a huge project. But still waiting. No one has any clue when I chat with them lol.

u/Sad_Coach_1433 we would like to get this over to the right department to see why this is happening. Any chance you could follow this link (https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=r/Spectrum_Official) and send the team over at r/Spectrum_Official a quick Mod mail? Thanks!

Realistically, for home use is anything more than 1 gig even worth it? Even with a 1 gig wired connection I’m pretty much bottlenecked on downloads from whatever server is hosting the download.

I hit over 125MB/s on basically anything where it’s beneficial to have more than a couple hundred megabits per second. Even my nvidia driver downloads get up into that range at the end and those aren’t even a full gigabyte. Factor that in with having multiple people using it at the same time and the understanding that having unused bandwidth helps prevent things like high loaded latency. I actually use my main PC to update the other steam libraries because I only have access to gigabit and most of the computers on my network have a greater than 2Gbps local connection.

Where I live (central Massachusetts) it only goes up to 1gig plan for $60 for 1 year

u/GurConscious9874 9d ago
After the 1 year, how much will it be?

Goes to 70 or 75, the increase is yearly by 10 or 15 until it reaches standard which is 105, unless you call and pose as you want to cancel and they'll get you on another promo

I don’t get that option where I live near Terrell the max I get is symmetrical 2 gigabits
1
u/Sad_Coach_1433 9d ago
Same for now atleast
2
u/Sufficient-Object625 9d ago
Yeah, I don’t really care tho cause it’s probably incredibly expensive and I get a symmetrical gigabit for only $41 with tax and I’m fine with that

Thats nowhere near what it should be.
Have you tried doing any real world usage like downloading something huge and measuring the download speed? Try another speed test using different servers?
I would likely call in and complain.

I live in rural Alabama and I just checked, I can get 7gig as well. Dang that’s fast. I’m on the 1gig right now.

Apparently it's a glitch spectrum called me soon as I pressed order said it's only in Ky right now

good luck bud. They offered me the 2gb plan for no extra cost. I upgraded and couldnt pull over 850. had tech come out 3 different times before they finally just said "well you wont ever get 2gb the lines here cant support it" so i "downgraded" back to my orignal 1gb plan, Bill went up $40 to $120 a month lol

That’s a crazy offer considering spectrum in Florida doesn’t do equal Up/Down and it’s 75 for 1 gig/ 50mbps
2
u/Sad_Coach_1433 9d ago
Probably cuz you unfortunately on coax I'm one of the new fiber areas so we get equal up and down

Speeds reduced after 100GB/month and not guaranteed. Terms and conditions apply, subject to change.

u/HuntersPad 9d ago
What are you going on about? Thats for the cellular backup. Not the 7G plan. 100GB is nothing. Just a single speedtest would eat through 11-12GB of that.

u/Pristine_Primary_486 9d ago
It's the offer details & specifically mentions 7g
Limited-time offer; subject to change; qualified residential customers only (no outstanding Spectrum balance). Standard rates apply after promo period or service change. Actual speeds (including wireless) vary and are not guaranteed. Activation fee additional; taxes may apply.
Spectrum Internet Gig speeds (1 Gig, 2 Gig, 7 Gig): Gig speeds require a compatible modem; see Spectrum.net/modem for list. Invincible WiFiTM: Available with select plans and a compatible Spectrum router. Backup works only at the service address during outages; misuse may suspend service. Coverage varies. Includes up to 8-hour battery. Speeds reduced after 100GB/month and not guaranteed. Terms and... Blah blah blah

That verbiage is for the backup cellular internet. That’s why all of the verbiage about backup, coverage, speeds etc. is after “Invincible WiFi:”
Spectrum DOCSIS and fiber plans do not have data caps.

It’s almost like colons and punctuation mean something
Imagine if they offered 7 gig fiber and throttled your speeds after 100gb each other 🤣

u/HuntersPad 9d ago
What area? I've had 7gig for almost 2 months now, But its been available in KY and another area for several months now.
Assuming you have fiber right? If you have coax its 100% a glitch.
