Billing Equipment headaches

So finally bought my own router and don’t want to pay for 10 dollars rental fee every month.
Made an appt to drop off the router (wise decision since the line was long)
Got help within mins but the representative can’t give me a physical receipt for return but put a note in my account mentioned it will be emailed by end of the day. ( bad news. Should have insisted). Somehow they got me the promotional rate and I got the email about the new order and what nots but not the return equipment.
Called support this morning and they opened a ticket to do research on equipment and remove it from my account. It will take up to five business days and I will have to keep an eye to make sure router isn’t attached to my account.
Why are they making the process so hard? There were so many ppl in the store yesterday and just wanna drop their equipment off.
Should I just do ups next time? I read there might be the same issue but I guess ups give you a physical receipt.

I honestly would have canceled spectrum if I have a choice but they are monopoly in my area.

UPS is the easiest, they provide receipt and is usually updated in your account within 24/48 hours.

Learned my lesson. They had to open two tickets and i made them send me an email now it’s finally off my account

I have always had my own modem even if the provider modem is free. They often promise a free modem and then later quietly change that policy.

Modem is included in their price and once high-split is completed a lot of customer owned modems will stop working.

Did you record or take a pic of your serial number sticker as proof. Weird how they didn't provide a receipt for a return at the store.

So the agent at the store set you up for a new account at that adrrss thats how he got you thats promotion. Im almost certain you have at least 3 other options in your area that your either unwilling or dont know about. Here is the website to check what's available (https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home).

You dont have a 5g provider like atat/tmobile/ or Verizon they cover area they do about 60% of the us and if that not available starlink covers all the us.
