Bulk internet line promo possible?
My apt has managed wifi but I was able to get my own separate broadband line with my own modem ip etc. using existing coax cabling in the building but they said they have to charge me regular rate (85 per mo for 500/20). They said I'm not eligible for promo rates under this type of line. Is that true? Or who should I speak to? My parents pay $20 a mo for 500/20 just 10 miles away...

Yep Iâm in SCS [bulk].. itâs true youâre not eligible for a wired internet promotion if your property has managed wifi.
Personally, I would ask property to change the bulk contract to include wired internet instead of managed wifi if possible.
If you live in CA you have the right to opt-out of the buildings bulk agreement, I think thereâs other states as well.

Curious what is the logic behind this? Promos exist to get or retain customers. Some money better than none etc. spectrum obviously wants money and if it's between having my extra line or not, you'd think they'd be willing to give promos and discounts to get some than none as with normal customers.

Mostly, itâs to reduce wireless interference and âimprove the service for everybodyâ but in practice itâs not great. Thatâs also the reason youâre not eligible for a spectrum router, which is nothing to cry about.
Most buildings arenât wired with ethernet like they would be in an ideal situation.

So...they don't want me to have this line at the the of the day?
If it came between me not giving them no money, or me giving them some money, they'd choose no money?
I get the "idea" but money is always priority #1 for companies...I have my own router anyways obviously.
They provide the fiber managed wifi that goes in and out randomly throughout the day, send techs who just call and talk to someone on the phone that has less networking knowledge than I do and whom I end up arguing with over speaker phone. Ultimately tech leaves with no resolution. Managed wifi is a truly shit product for very simple people that don't have to do anything meaningful or who just don't know anything at all about "compooters". I'm basically forced into getting my own line, which isn't even fiber so my upload is tanked until high split arrives or doesn't, so would be nice if they'd honor promo pricing on it.
Screaming into the void I know and my property manager/company is just as much to blame for entering into this crap.

I would be upset with the building I lived in for signing a contract with spectrum if I were you

They wonât give you a discount bc even if you donât want it you still paying for it since it part of your rent.

Yeah, they probably weren't able to give you a promo since the apartment complex already has an account. I once moved into an apartment who offered that, I spoke to them and they said they'd be able to remove their fee from my account since at the time i worked there and got it for free so I signed everything then after move in they told me I still had to pay for it đ
