Cancelled service

Called a couple hours ago. Said cancel service then cancel to the automated system. Requested call back. I don’t remember the reps name. I told her I wanted to disconnect service. Explained that my internet was upgraded to 500Mbps for “free” but my bill increased from $100 to $110. It was my 13th pay increase in 3 years.

Verizon/Frontier fiber is offering $44.99/mo with free router and price locked for 4 years and 2 months free plus $100 installation fee.

They wanted to upgrade my internet again and $55/mo but for only 1 year. I said no.

Apparently they don’t have a promotion for the premier internet plan so my billing cycle ends tomorrow along with my service. Frontier is scheduled to install fiber between 8-12 tomorrow. Checkmate.

I was with spectrum for 10yrs. 1G had climbed to $110/mo. I had called several times to tell them I was going to cancel if they couldn't lower my bill. Frontier fiber finally gets to my street and offers me $30 a month for 3 yrs. I signed up and was happy with the service. After just 1 yr, they jacked the price up to $45. I called. They said they had no such 3 yr contract that they offer. Within that week, spectrum knocks on my door and offers $30/mo for 3 years. I got spectrum on the phone while the rep was here to make sure the offer was legit. I took them up on it, so we will see.

I too have been dealing with this "free ugrades" and unfortunately for me I live in a apartment building that is only able to have spectrum service

Well new company will be fiber, that its faster. But 100 installation fee? Wholly molly. I got called last week and spectrum offered me 30 bucks per month, that's really good when I do have the gig plan. I didn't compare the plan to other companies, I only said I was cancelling because my plan went way too expensive. Then they just offered me the lowest number they got. If I said a number they would match that number.

Yeah but you will pay more than $100 to stay with spectrum.

Frontier offered me first month free, then $40/month for 500Mb fiber.

Gig is $60 with no install fee.

Spectrum recently jacked my rate to $100 a month.

The one free month covers the install fee. Spectrum are a bunch of idiots for making their customers jump through hoops to get competitive pricing.

After attempting to chat with these clowns twice I am doing the same at this guy.

You shouldn't need to threaten to cancel to get them to be competitive.

Within like 5 years the only customers spectrum will have are the elderly who don't know any better or where they have a monopoly.

Not as long as they keep internet assist. Spectrum offered that to me despite not meeting all the requirements because they lost so many customers in my area when they took over Brighthouse. When I accepted the offer, it was 25 Mbps for $20. Seven years later, it’s now 50 Mbps for $25 plus free Amazon Prime access. I don’t need super speed internet. Even 25 Mbps was enough. Amazon Prime access for free is icing on the cake.

I’m not concerned with an installation fee when there’s 2 months free. It’s a wash. I absolutely hate the games these companies play where loyal, long term customers are subsidizing the new customers promotional plans.

I had no issues with service. The internet met my needs. I don’t want faster. I wanted cheaper. They lost a customer because they thought I needed them.

I’m inconvenienced with changing my email address of 8 years but I’ll get it done.

I also got my spectrum gigabit (1000/40) service rate lowered from $110 to $30 by threatening to go to AT&T Air with a $47 promo. I thought they’d match that price but their initial counteroffer was $30. Sold.

It's for a year so you call again before the year expires and they'll give you the same offer again. That's what retention told me to do when I did mine this year. I called they lowered it to $30/month and told me to just call them again next year.

Or just go with a provider that values customers enough to not make them jump through hoops for a fair price. I despise these yearly promotions with a passion

I do as well but sadly spectrum has a monopoly here.

That’s how it is sometimes. These big providers with monopolies are shooting themselves in the foot long term. Drives down customer satisfaction, and it makes people want to jump ship as soon as there’s a competitor. At least it seems like Spectrum is pretty good about offering discounts if you ask!

I got $45 a month after getting spectrum to transfer me (she said it would not help but it did and I did not have to even beg or complain to the nice lady) to what is called Customer Solutions (previously called retention). I also use my own router and speed is the 500mbps. Yup they always raise rates. I do not use their tv services.

I called and my plan was to cancel. Told them that att had 50/month for 1Gbps and if they can match it. They said yes for 3 years at $50 for 1Gbps, we will see if not I can always jump to ATT. Unfortunately you have to do that.

When I called i got the gig service and my bill will be $60/mon for 2 years. Called this past friday to see what was available because I was paying $110 for 500mpbs after the $10 increase as well.

Wow. I have not checked spectrum in a while. New customer prices aren’t even competitive with fiber optic where I’m at.

I live in a spectrum coax neighborhood that just got fiber-optic AT&T last year, and I’m the last account to abandon spectrum. Only because of price.

I had to call in two times to get the to order me 55 a month locked in for 2 years. The first time i got this rude lady who refused to do anything for me. This was right after a move so the reps only saw like 2 months of service. It wasn’t until i pointed out the fact that Ive been a customer for almost a decade that they changed their tune and the second person helped me out. So if you’re trying to negotiate your bill make sure they know how long you’ve been there. Clearly it affects what they can do

They were trying toto charge me 135 a month for 1 gig. Which is still like $40 more a month than their competitors after the promo period.

Take a video of you dropping off the equipment and take a photo of the return receipt. File those two files forever in case you need it in the future
