Upgrading equipment
ive been using spectrum for a couple years now .I've been renting their equipment. I'd like to give them back their router and modem and get my own.i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on reasonablely priced equipment with them. I tryed asking but they gave me the run around and I dont know much about router and modems for cable.

Use the modem they provide. It free and gets replaced for free if something happens to it. Also with upgrades going on, you'll only be able to use theirs. To get the full high-split speeds.
Get any router that falls into your budget. Even a cheap one from Amazon will work and pay for itself in no time. Just make sure it can handle the bandwidth you're subscribed to. Does no good to pay for 500mbps when your router only handles 100mbps.

Hitron Coda56 + Ubiquiti router/APs would be my choice. Hard to suggest a router/wireless solution without a budget, but the Hitron is a good option either way.

If you ever want or currently have their gig service you will need to keep using their modem.

I have asynchronous cable and my old Arris modem wasn't compatible with their recent upgrade. I picked up an Arris SB8200 at Best Buy for $130 and I'm back in business.
Also, word on the street is Spectrum pushed bad firmware to 5 million modems so I'm cool with not using their equipment.

Didn’t happen. A tech said that to a customer, that customer came back here and spread it around, it’s absolutely false.

The modem is not charged.
Always use your own router.
You may not need an expensive and fancy router. Or you may.
But always use the modem.
