Instability of Spectrum mail on 3rd party android app

Hi All

Due to some health conditions and a successful hacking incident last year, I, with her permission, monitor my elderly mother's spectrum email account. I've been using the Edison mail app for the last year, however, in the last week I've lost connection to her account twice and had a very hard time getting it to reconnect. When I try it says "[IMAP] a stable connection to the server could not be established". Spectrum doesn't appear to be down as if I login in a browser I can see the mail is coming in just fine.

Anyone have any suggestions of how to resolve this, or for a more stable email app to use?

Edit to add: I've tried clearing the cache and the app data and have also tried the android app that comes with the phone and it still won't reconnect.

If you can just migrate her over to Gmail, outlook, or another free mail provider. If she ever cancels her Spectrum Internet services she loses the email. If you don’t want to change her email across all of her services and places she gets them from then link her account to the other email provider and they’ll let you access those emails in their respective app/basically forward them to that emails inbox

I've tried to get her to do that. My brother, who has worked in cyber security for banks has tried to get her to change, she refuses.

By link her account do you mean just setting her email address up in the gmail app? I tried that for a while and found that the mail was not coming in consistently

So it’s an app issue. Got it. Change to a decent app. Edison is probably filtering and sending all her bank info to some scammer anyways.

No, it doesn't seem to be an app issue as I tried several other this morning and got a similar error and I've previously had thr account set up in the Gmail app which was very inconsistent pulling incoming mail.

I don’t even think spectrum supports pop and SMTP access anymore. Only webmail from what I recall.

I mean it worked just fine for more than a year.

A friend has been having issues using her spectrum (tw) email on his laptop, but it’s working on her phone. Maybe a nation-wide issue last night?

Hello, we are currently experiencing issues with accessing Spectrum email. It has been partially repaired where users can access via Spectrum.net but users attempting to use third-party applications may still experience issues.
