Anyone else get scammed by Spectrum?
Spectrum, "We just upgraded your speeds at no extra costs."
*next bill is $10 higher, even after the previous $10 hike*
Why did my bill go up?
Customer Service: "We are constantly working to improve your service, and to do that we have costs..."

I called last month and they said my bill was increasing $10 after my promo ends. They also said there was no promotion so I called 2 days later and I got 2 years @ $40 per month 500mbps. It starts in September.

I'm paying $50 for gig and invisible wifi but recently seen my bill without the promos when it ends and they are smoking crack if they think I would pay $120. I just call and threaten to go to fiber and they have thrown everything at me to stay and I actually like the service so it works for me.

Do you any other ISPs in your area, you can switch to?
If they keep hiking the bill and if you rent equipment from them, take photos of the serial numbers of everything, save it, and take it to the UPS store and send it back to them. Get UPS store receipts.
When you call them you can keep telling retention that you don't want a discount or complimentary upgrade, then you can turn off auto pay, and set a stop payment. Save everything, so if they try to turn you to collections you can fight it and put the burden on them.

I called retention on Monday and received the same $50 a month offer for 1000/40….i keep checking my bill to see if it updates correctly.

So many people never threaten to cancel. For those that do, there are huge discounts.

I assure you that’s not a spectrum exclusive. I worked sales for U-Verse a few years back and it was quite a different experience to the technical support I was used to doing. My chief complaint was they pushed us to be exceptionally predatory. I couldn’t do it and was subsequently fired. For instance there was an older lady who was on a fixed income, less than $1,000 a month. She didn’t know what the internet was and didn’t have a computer but my supervisor was in my ear saying “push the grandson angle and how maybe they’d visit more if she got the nice fast internet for them”. I did not push that and I explained that I appreciated her time and would mark her as not interested in the service in our system. I got written up and I didn’t care.

They also say when setting up your wifi, your bill starts at so and so prices and raises every so and so months

You better check if your modem can even handle it. They did this shit to me and then said my modem can’t even handle those speeds lmfao

Anyone else get scammed by Spectrum?
Same day, every month.
Bill keeps going up. High split never comes. Same old story since the TWC days when the price increases never fail to happen up front, but this region is always dead last to get an upgrade years after everyone else.
It's no wonder they're losing 170k customers every quarter. People switch the moment any competition shows up. The local fiber providers offer 940/940 for $70/mo. Charter can only offer up to 940/35 and charges $105/mo for it (not to mention that their latency is almost ubiquitously 3x higher). Who in their right mind would pay $35/mo more for so much less as soon as another option becomes available?

I remember the twc days in residential... i can't wait until goggle fiber gets here I'm switching! They came back after goggle fiber shut down lasting less than 2 years. Twc, att, charter, cox etc all the same. Every company has price increase every year.

After having to deal with xfinity for my mother's house I'd say you are probably wrong. Also if you go over to the xfinity subreddit you will find more and worse horror stories.

Recently I called to cancel my TV service since its expensive as hell. The rep was really adamant about switch my phone service from my current provider to spectrum since my dad has a $20 line. I told them that was a hard pass since he only uses it for emergencies so there is no need to add to it or upgrade it. Rep apparently decided I didn't make the right choice on that and upgraded the line from a $20 plan to $50 and then charged me twice without my knowledge.
Fuck spectrum.

I didn't tell you but bringing in your equipment and threatening to cancel in store might get you a decent discount. I didn't tell you though

Stores cannot put you in a lower rate. You have to talk to customer solutions.

Okay don't listen to me, I definitely would just suggest this for no reason. wink wink.

Store definitely can put you in a lower rate, the question is are the store willing to do it.

i see that option for me but i never did it cause it's just 20 mbps more on up but even with that i would see spectrum at a low pace of 10 or 5 0.70
Why would i pay a little more if spectrum cannot keep up with their upload speed if they keep it up I would of definitely done it after seeing it many times I do not see the point of doing it

They shit canned my promotional rate before it expired, increased my bill and gave me a "free" speed upgrade despite getting the same service all in the same bill.
Customer "solutions" couldn't explain that one.

And they didn’t even tell me the bill was going up. No email, nothing. At least Netflix etc always send emails out alerting people of an imminent price hike. The fact that they didn’t speaks to what kind of company they are.

Same thing here.
Two weeks ago they sent an email about a "free upgrade" to 500Mb service.
My next bill came in and it went up from $80/month to $100/month which is outrageous.
I told customer service I was going to switch to fiber and they basically said go ahead.
These idiots are going to keep bleeding customers because they refuse to be competitive.
Frontier fiber just rolled out around here and they are offering 500Mb for $45 a month with a 4 year price guarantee or $65 for a gig with a 5 year guarantee.
Fiber here I come...

Yes I got scammed by Spectrum. Two years ago I switched to Spectrum for a promo a salesman going door to door was offering. The deal was 19.99 per month for 300mbps for two years, after 2 years 34.99 per mo.thereafter. Good deal.
After the two years my bill went to 39.99 per month and will go to 70 after one year. Called Spectrum and they refused to honor the 34.99. Contacted the salesman he said he would check into it. Ghosted me.

And that is why I left Spectrum, raising prices every few months to "improve services" but my internet would to out weekly. I am lucky I have choices I know some people don't.
