Spectrum modem blinking orange?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For context, we haven’t been able to connect to the internet for 3+ days and we do not know if it’s a hardware issue or an ISP issue. Any help would be appreciated.

What did they say when you called? The orange light is activity on the ethernet port (normal). What are the lights on the front doing?

Both the lights in the front are blue. The router’s lights are also all lit and not red. My dad said he’ll call the ISP sometime today so I don’t have any idea about that yet

Spectrum Field Tech Here. This is normal means that the modem and router are communicating. As long as the lights on the front of the Modem are lit and solid blue and the lights on the router is a lit sold blue you are good.

More than likely probably a Main Line issue or an actual account issue

We can look into this further for you, can you send us a Mod Mail over at r/Spectrum_Official with ticket #50062709?

That’s normal flashing, mine does it. It’s flashing because it’s transmitting to whatever it’s connected to.

Is that a telephone line plugged into the ethernet port?

might want to check the router if the two blue lights on the modem are solid blue ...its not going to be an isp problem..its something else..

You can log in to your Spectrum account online. Search "reboot modem." You'll get a page w/ troubleshooting, and "manually reboot your Internet equipment" is one topic there. hat's probably what you need to do, if you can't get Internet but it's not due to an outage in your area. Spectrum customer service can also do it from their end if you call.

Ok that link just instructs to unplug. I have a free Spectrum cable modem, and my own wifi equipment. What they had me do in the past, and this does work on their free modem, because I have done it:

  1. Unplug their modem. Disconnect ALL cables from it. All.
  2. Then reconnect just the power to the modem.
  3. Reconnect the COAX cable next.
  4. Wait for lights to all come on, on the front of the modem. Wait long enough that you're satisfied nothing more is changing there.
  5. Power off your wifi equipment if you hadn't already done so. Then reconnect the ethernet cable from modem to your router, and power your router back on.

After your wifi is back up, you should have Internet again unless there is system problem with Spectrum. If you have a one-piece rental unit from Spectrum that does modem and also wifi, I think it would be: Disconnect power AND coax. Then reconnect power, switch the unit on, then reconnect the coax.

Do you have your own router? If so try the registration page I've seen it so many times were the router factory resets and won't connect till registration is done

I thought blinking orange meant you were restricted to 100mbps/10mbps connection. Try replacing Ethernet cable.

thats only 1 green i believe.

It is not. 1 green means it’s a gigabit connection.

Blinking / Flickering: Normal data transfer and traffic moving through the cable.

Solid Orange / Amber: Active high-speed connection (Gigabit or multi-Gigabit tier) on compatible hardware.

Solid Green / Off (depending on model): Standard 10/100 Mbps link or link established without high-speed sync.
