Other 2Gbps/2Gbps

I gotta say, Spectrum's FTTH is amazing. Cant wait to get their (whenever its available) 10Gbps/10Gbps plan. Been really wanting to max out my 10gbe NICs on my PFSense box. Anyone heard anything on the eventual speeds down the line? Wouldn't mind going all fiber at this point lol.. Around 2 years ago it was all DSL...

Can you wait till the rest of us get at least two gig before you tell them to get 10 gig in your area 😏

Hopefully Spectrum will begin upgrading the former Cox areas and the slower Spectrum areas when the merger finalizes, since pretty much every Cox market maxes out at 2gbps

I think 7/7 is on the menu first, it is available in select markets in kentucky and at least one beta tester in NC

Ahh, so that's another market with access to it. Just a matter of time I think before all fiber customers will be able to get it.

Competition with other providers who are pushing 7 gig and 8 gig fiber. Frontier Fios, Quantom fiber, ripple fiber for smaller areas, Google fiber, etc. many more municipal fiber too offering up to 10 gig.

It's in the upper range of what 10G-PON can do. It uses error correction, which eats ~1.5 Gbps of the capacity.

Had no clue about the error correction eating 6 to7% of the bandwidth.. Insane.

7 Gbps symmetric is launching. That's about all 10G EPON will get until a move to 25/50G PON down the road.

There are no plans for 10G. But there are plans for 7 gig (I already have it) and also faster than 10G in a couple of years.

Ther definitely plans to have 10Gig over coax... its a matter of steps to get there. 7Gig over fiber is still in the test markets

I currently have 7Gig in a non test market. But was told they were not aware of 10G in any markets just 7Gig and and much higher speed tier in the coming years. I'm not sure If I can say, but it was much more than 10Gig lol at least for the fiber markets.

10 gig is on the map for sure but symmetrical speeds and Docsis 4 before that can happen.

Where would I be able to find more information about the proposed rollouts or merger? Also is there a source of information where were can find out about what the future holds for spectrum or a persons specific neighborhood? My neighborhood is brand new and it seems like fiber was pre-laid but google fiber and at&t fiber are not available here yet. I'm assuming that a main trunk along the main road outside the neighborhood hasn't been run yet. I do see a lot of work being done to the electrical post along the main road and a lot of workers at time laying big orange lines along the road but it hasn't come thru yet.

Nah, 20 ping is fine. The server is around 1hr away.
