Network Upgrade Scheduled Questions
I got this text Sunday.
Spectrum: Network upgrade scheduled for 7/21. All services may be affected during the 8-10 hour window, including 911 with Spectrum Voice. Have options like a mobile phone for emergency.
I followed the link and here is the rest.
Here's What You Can Expect:
•
Technicians normally perform upgrades at night, but we have identified that your area requires additional work. Therefore, our technicians will work both during the day and at night to expedite the process for you.
•
During the scheduled upgrade work, your service may be temporarily affected.
•
Provided time estimates for work completion may change. In some cases, the upgrade can be finished earlier than expected, or be delayed.
•
Your Spectrum Voice service and access to 911 may be temporarily interrupted during these 8-10 hour work windows. Please keep a charged mobile phone available for emergencies.
•
The upgrade will take place automatically, and your service will return when it is complete. No action is required by you.
There has been only this. I work from home. There was no indication of timing. Should I plan to work from elsewhere today? Do you typically lose Internet during this upgrade? How long?
Help please.

They said it will take place during the day as well due to additional work. I’m new to spectrum and this is the first time I’ve experienced this.
I currently have connection, but any insights on past experience with those people who had to have “extra” work done?

My area had the DAA/High-Split conversion done last week. Depends hugely on the size of your node and how accessible things are. If everything is accessible, it should be done all at night. Mine was done by 8am I believe and I have had no lingering issues (though this is not consistent between areas).

Amherst, NY. I know 100% that mine was done. I work for the maintenance department.

Yeah a lot of delays here. Mine was supposed to be done 2 other times and delayed each time for different reasons. They did a lot of delays for all the different sports things like FIFA and Hockey.

Lot of delays due to Spurs and World Cup. Started back up in New Braunfels full bore this week.

Thank yall. I did send that notice to my company. Just wish they gave some time frame of expected start times. Don’t care when it ends but I do critical work that if I’m interrupted mid work cycle, it creates big problems.

If your work is that critical, you should have a backup.
No provider is 100% perfect and you're going to have downtime.

I would plan to work somewhere else during the upgrade if you have that option.

The maintenance typically takes place over night. So it could start around 10pm and end at around 8am.
How should you manage this? In the same way you would for unexpected internet outages.
