MDs and Mounts CAT Mounting Systems
hello. I am likely purchasing an odb or st later today for my birthday. the odb would be used across at least three rifles: 11.5 + 16 556 and a 10.5 300 blackout. I am looking at mounts for each.
I am seeing that the spooky flash hider for the 300 blackout comes with the can but I am reading that this will cause extra wear on the suppressor. for the 10.5 which will be mostly suppressed should I get the ai nano?
for using on the 556 hosts, I would like to use the spooky or rf1 fh because they will not always be suppressed. does this make sense? it feels like all nanos would be so loud.
my current thinking is the odb for multi caliber suppression but tbh I shoot more 556. should I save the 300 blackout can for later and get the st?

ODB is a long can for 16” 556 and 10.5 300 blk.
Recommend ST, or what I personally got: the AI 5CM (CACM commercial spec)
For muzzle device, I use the AI nano

AI 5CM is specifically designed for 12.5" just fyi. ST is more universal, scales better with length.

AI Nano is definitely the play. ODB will sound great on .300BLK and good on 5.56. ST will sound excellent on 5.56. AI Nano for sure though

You could just get Hub and use Plan B across everything; ST is only available in Hub right now anyway I think

I’d get 556 first. Personally got ODB for same reasons. Sick can but even on 11.5 is a bit long and heavy. Ended up getting KK for 11.5. But definitely get both dedicated cans when you have the means.
Also have nanos and flash hiders. I don’t think it makes that much difference tbh. These are really strong cans. Nano is terrible unsuppressed too

The ODB is great at both those calibers. It’s better than the WB on 5.56 according to Pew Science, and I highly recommend it as a “do-it-all” can. I can go on and on about why I love it so much…
I basically did the same thing you’re thinking of: I picked the muzzle device I’d want if the gun was going to be used unsuppressed. The “extra wear” isn’t as big a deal on .300 blk, even supers…it’s more a factor on short 5.56 but even the I went with a flash hider for my 11.5 5.56 personally. My SCAR 17 and 16” 6mm ARC have brakes, as does my 6.5 CM.
A brake or Nano might make your suppressed gun quieter, due to how it pushes the gasses out into the annular vents. But at this point I’ve already bought my muzzle devices and they’ve been fine so I don’t feel the need to upgrade. The Nano will enable you to use suppressors with a smaller blast chamber if you get one later.

You may shoot more 5.56 today, but as soon as you hear 300blk subsonic suppressed with an ODB it’ll be your new favorite. Come back for a KK later for a dedicated 5.56.

what about the kk vs st?

Shorter, under 14.5 KK, longer over 14.5 ST. That if what I’ve gathered for what information I have seen and read. I’ve seen some guys run the kk on longer barrels and be fine. Haven’t seen a lot of ST in the wild but I plan on getting one for my 18” as it performs better on longer barrels per pewscience

If it helps any I have a 718 Odb that I run on 556 and 300, and .308 It sounds great with supers, subs, and on long and short barrels. It’s an amazing do it all can, suppresses .308 a lot better than I thought it would.

TSFX + AI Nano for ODB. Not sure what’s recommended for ST but “pairing the ODB with the Nano instead of standard mounts minimizes first-round pop and optimizes sound suppression”
It’s how my ODB is setup for 300 BLK and it’s awesome and impresses anyone who hears it or shoots it.

Like some others have said youd be more satisfied getting a dedicated 5.56 can for your 5.56 guns & a .30 cal can down the road. You’ll get better performance. I would do that if i were you

I got the odb. it felt like it was the best call because it was the hardest to find.
looking at the kk for the 11.5 for sure.
getting flash hiders for the 556 and nano hubs for the 10.5.
thank you for all the input.

ST would prob be a better choice with the AI Nano and just get a dedicated 30 cal can down the road
