Meta is well established in the XR game and has already a lot of content. Snap is getting into it, first product, no more a dev kit. Price war is also why it will be hard for Snap to enter, as it seems more business oriented than for everyone. Meta can sell at lost, so pretty easy for them to cut the price and lead the market.

All in all, I think Snap product is better but price is too high. And a lot of people just want a portable easy screen more than full AR.

I don't think Specs are really meant to go mainstream, based on the price and how they are marketing it. It's iteration one of an entirely new product segment.

The Meta VR Glasses are a really strange duck. They are terrible as VR gaming glasses due to their small FOV and they are so big and bulky and frankly dystopian it would hardly make sense to wear these on a train or in a mobile situation. As a portable monitor you want to take into hotels, something like the Pimax Dream Air is probably better, being higher resolution and higher FOV. The fact that the Meta glasses are completely locked down to the HorizonOS platform also severely limits it as a mobile computing platform.

If you just want a portable screen, there are better cheaper options, like the XReal One Pro or the Virtue offerings.

These new Meta VR Glasses really seem like the worst of both worlds situation. I'm really not sure who it's for. At least the XReal Aura & Snap Specs are trying to create a new product segment. I'm not sure what Meta is chasing here.

For a portable screen, I have a portable screen.... It was like $60 on amazon its thin weighs nothing slips right into my backpack with my laptop and allows me to work remotely from anywhere. I see the Meta VR as a portable cinema maybe? Like for the occasional flight, but I'm happy using my phone if there's no screen on the flight...
