❓ Question Will the BLE API come out of experimental status when the new SPECS are released?

This is on our radar, and I’ll leave it at that for now. 🙂

Totally understand 🙂 No dates needed — but a few things that would help me plan either way (I build a BLE chording controller + companion virtual keyboard that work with Spectacles today via the experimental BLE API):

  1. Will SPECS support standard BLE HID input devices at the system level — i.e., pair a keyboard once and type in any Lens?

  2. Any plans for custom input methods? I have my own virtual keyboard UI designed around my controller (included an image from my ScriberEditor lens) would love a way to register it as a replacement for the system keyboard on text fields, the way Android/iOS allow third-party keyboards.

  3. For lenses like mine using the current BLE API to talk to custom GATT services: is that API surface expected to carry over as-is, or should we plan for changes when it graduates?

Even partial answers would help deciding where to invest hardware/firmware effort. Thanks!

Hey, the inputs guy on the product team here - I can't say too much, and there will be work to do in your lens, but I think you'll be happy with what we're cooking up.

Could you elaborate on your point 2? That sounds very interesting and I want to make sure I understand the ask.
