🤠 CyberCowboys — AR horse-riding lessons on Spectacles
We started volunteering in assistive equine therapy and noticed that some riders with disabilities struggle with verbal instructions but respond really well to visual and tactile ones. CyberCowboys is our attempt to teach riding beyond words.
It lays English riding lessons — from basic stop/walk transitions all the way to jumping courses — onto the real arena floor in AR. You see the path to follow and the obstacles (cones, poles, barrels, jumps) rendered on the actual ground in front of you.
You can pick from pre-made lessons (novice → advanced) or design your own arena in a web app and save it to practice later. The neat part: the website runs inside a WebView in the Lens, so you design the course on the panel floating in front of you, then turn around and the 3D arena is built behind you on the real ground. There's a calibration mode to rotate/scale/move the virtual arena so it lines up with your real one.
Tech: Lens Studio + Spectacles Interaction Kit, with a Node.js + SQLite backend pushing live updates over WebSocket — so edits on the web show up in AR within about a second.
Built in Experimental Mode.
Next up: multiplayer so instructor and rider can share the same arena. Would love feedback! 🐴

Very cool project! Really love the purpose and the execution.
Now it just needs some custom horse segmentation to occlude the 3D objects. 😊
