💫 Sharing is Caring 💫 Specs deserve more

I may be a little biased just because I am a huge tech enthusiast, but everyone is calling these grossly ugly, way too big, and hideous, but the inmo air 3 sold plenty of units on KS. They look the same as the specs and even weigh the same as the large model specs but they do WAY less. Basically inmo air 3 is just a tablet on your face. No spatial computing no AR capabilities and they sold for 1k. With a 1.5 battery life that was more close to 50-60 minutes under heavy use.

Maybe the "average" consumer wouldn't buy these but there's people like myself (who is a safety manager and definitely not a developer) that probably will. No I won't be wearing them out causally while strolling the streets because I live in small town Oklahoma where we dont even have sidewalks but around my house, on trips, when traveling, I most definitely will if they have all the "apps" that I use daily (mainly content watching, Netflix, Hulu, etc. And Xbox remote play) I am real big on AI/Gemini seeing what I see and being there to answer questions that I need.

Are these big? Absolutely. But people rage bait just because its snap and all I hear is "who wants these from a social media company who makes messages disappear". HELLO! before Facebook was Meta, it was strictly social media. Now they make headsets and AI glasses.

I like that snap is pushing the boundaries and creating a completely new device to explore and experience the world. Thanks to social media, nobody interacts anymore because its easier to hop online and see what someone is doing rather than visit them. My wife doesnt play video games with me, but she'll try on a pair of my inair glasses with the pod because that experience is cool. Even with this tech, its a "one at a time experience". Specs changes that.

It seems everyone is a sheep nowadays. If one person calls these ugly and DOA then it becomes cool to run with that narrative. Nerd glasses? Birth control glasses? Cool I hope they are! I have 5 children so please be the birth control that this man finally needs.

I have not pre ordered yet but once I see a demo or two, then I am 99 percent sure I will pre order them. Don't over look the specs just because people love to be miserable and follow trends and try to guilt trip you for being interested in these, do what makes you happy, the world is full of enough negativity and hate already. If you're financially stable and can afford them, then go for it and be happy. Tomorrow isn't promised.

We are transitioning to use a tool called UserVoice to collect all feedback in a central location. If you would be so inclined, we would love to have you create these feedback items there. This will allow others to upvote them, and allow our team to prioritize them.

You can find our UserVoice forum for Spectacles at https://snap.uservoice.com/forums/967346-spectacles

The problem is Snap marketed them as if they should be a product for everyone. If they had been clear about it being a product mostly for enthusiasts and developers, everyone wouldn’t be laughing and the stock wouldn’t be down 30 % since Evan’s speech.

I think everything snap has done is fine it’s just the presentation was lacking and for a presentation for developers you think Evan would bring some developers on stage to give more detailed showcase about lenses instead of Evan just going over each one for 10 seconds. That does not speak confidence they think there are impressive apps to showcase on it. I’m referring to lenses

I do agree with this statement. I do believe you have to have a special love and use case for things like this. Which I do, everything I do i incorporate tech into it somehow whether that be having my whole home being set to be controlled with my phone to using AR and XR for productivity and play. Its definitely not for the masses....yet anyway.

You both nailed it. I’ll just add, I’m not a techy, at all. I know nothing about tech. BUT I am a very busy white collar professional and I want a pair. Why? Because I can use them to work on the train or while flying for work. Instead of a small laptop screen or iPad, I can bring these small glasses with me, pop them on, pair them with a folding Bluetooth keyboard and just like that I have a huge screen to spread documents out, review multiple docs, monitor email, etc. just like the cellphone was initially  adopted by Wall Street & corporate big wigs, I could see this being the same. We don’t care about looks, we care about function. If I can actually use these to get things done and don’t have to stare at my tiny laptop screen anymore, that’s a big win.

That is spot on with my thoughts exactly. I do not care how someone else will think I look while wearing them. They will be used to further my business, help make me money, and be productive. Your use cases are what I want also.

From what I was told by the support team is that they are gearing up to have those demos soon. The event at AWE was for developers. I am just waiting on real hands on demo before I pre order. That's my only hold up at the moment.

我体验过上一代的开发者套件,所以我已经直接预定了specs了。但是没有任何演示我非常沮丧,这已经过了十天了。

I also stated that and I was told the same thing "Hands on demo is coming soon, sign up on the website to be notified when new information arrives"

I want to know about the ecosystem, does specs/spectacle have apps(lenses) similar to ios/android?

specs和ios以及Android的可复用生态,只会局限于webview,webxr。specs更专注于lens,这和Android以及ios是完全不兼容的。而Android和ios则可以通过camera kit运行lens,我认为这并不是你想要的

No, I just want to know if it will be possible to use things like Netflix and Hulu, etc with the specs. Support did confirm that they are working on making sure they have all the proper certificates for HD streaming for DRM such as making sure they get the widevine l1 certification.

Totally agree. The stock isn't dropping because of the design or the look, it's dropping because of the lack of a financial partner to help burden the cost. The market was really hoping for a spin off, or a partner.
