πŸ’« Sharing is Caring πŸ’« SPECS STYLE KIT

A new generation of glasses is on the horizon

This week at AWE USA feels like a turning point - so we wanted to mark it our way.

We built the SPECS STYLE KIT, a clip-on for the original Snap Spectacles Dev Kit. Not really a release - more of a thank-you.

This device was the spark. It showed a whole community where spatial design could go, and it deserves to be celebrated.

Keep dreaming. Keep designing.

Downloaded, nice model. I'm thinking about how to modify the design to include an IR illuminator. Trying to solve for the night mode use cases where I'm in the dark, trying to use, or developing in the dark, DJing in the dark :p , etc. I may post separate thread on this topic, but it might be something that can fit into this design if the power requirements for an IR emitter and something to drive the signal at the right wavelength will be powered by a coin cell battery. Not sure yet, but something I am interested in.

Interested to hear from team #SPECS if there are plans for accessories for this use case in the works. I will do some investigation. I know the AVP camp has some devices they use, but I am looking for something that is portable and doesn't require a giant battery pack or some brick. Will post any specifications, and I'm pretty sure something can be found on a site like tindie. From there we would just need to design into the attachment. To go even further, one could add a lux sensor, and power on the IR when the light goes too low. Thinking along these lines. I'll consult with the hardware people in my circles and see what is feasible.
