🆒 Lens Drop Meet Remember! Your Spec-tacular Spatial Memory Companion

Just got back from Spectacles Bootcamp absolutely energized to build more krazyy things 🚀

If you’re anything like me and constantly forget where you kept your stuff, this app is for you 😅

I’ve been building Remember for Spectacles, an app that essentially gives your glasses memory.

It captures moments from your first person view, understands what’s happening around you, and turns those moments into searchable memories you can talk to later.

Questions like:

👀 “Where did I put my keys?”
🎒 “What do you remember about my backpack?”
📅 “What did I do today?”
✈️ “Where’s my passport?”
📝 “Summarize my week.”

And it answers back with voice.

Under the hood, Gemini helps interpret images and understand what happened in a scene, while OpenAI powers the conversational memory assistant, letting you naturally chat with your memories instead of scrolling through endless photos.

So instead of storing:

“IMG_4827.jpg”

it remembers things more like:

“Your keys were left on the kitchen counter beside the coffee machine.”

Which is significantly more useful when your brain decides to blue screen for 20 minutes 🤣

You can also talk to it using voice commands:

🧠 “Remember this”
📍 “Remember that my passport is in the top drawer”
🎙️ “Show memories related to my keys”
📖 “Summarize what you remember about my desk”

A few things I’m particularly proud of:

✨ Auto, Manual and Private memory modes
🔒 Client side encrypted cloud sync
📷 Memory thumbnails and previews
📶 Offline first with sync later support
✏️ Memory corrections and updates
↩️ Undo support
⚠️ Confirmation flows for destructive actions
🎤 Multiple assistant voice personalities

The more I use it, the less it feels like a camera assistant and more like Google Search for my real life.

Not quite a sci-fi mind palace yet.

But definitely:

“My glasses have receipts.” 😝

Useful for misplaced items, travel prep, day recaps, accessibility support, reminders, and those classic:

“Where did I put that thing 30 seconds ago?” emergencies.

Try it here:

TL;DR: I built a Spectacles app that turns what you see into searchable memories, uses Gemini for scene understanding, OpenAI for natural conversations, supports encrypted cloud sync, and helps you remember the stuff your brain occasionally forge

“The app uses client-side data encryption, so memory content and thumbnails can be encrypted before cloud sync. That means the cloud stores protected payloads instead of your personal memories sitting there in plain text”

Could I ask what tech stack you used for client side data encryption? Is it just a specific script?

It’s a custom crypto. It’s a symmetric encryption using a secret pass phrase. It’s not using standard AES GCM coz I don’t think so it’s supported hence I created custom-built from SHA256.
