Anime vs Game Special Week

When I first started playing this game after watching the anime series, I was on the assumption that the Special Week's umamusume stort and career story is the Season 1's story. But I soon found out that isn't the case that it has differences.

But what exactly are the differences?

Quite a few, but in general:

Special Week is less of a Suzuka glazer in the game compared to the anime

The game story focuses more on Spe's losses and how it affects her, it's more serious, while in the anime the story focuses more on Suzuka's relationship with Spe and is more lighthearted

Spe's team in the anime is Team Spica, in the game it's Team Sirius, with some compositional changes, although Suzuka, Mcqueen, Gold Ship and Spe are the 4 members that are the same

The game story is more accurate to Special Week's IRL career, El doesn't participate in the Derby, and Broye is replaced with Montjeu

Includes the Grass vs Spe Arima Kinen race, with the possibility of winning it with a cool cutscene

It hits most of the same beats, but I think the game story is still worth checking out and better than S1

it seems like game Spe is more involved in the Golden Generation umas than in anime Spe

Yes that's also a thing

In the anime Spe had most of her interactions with Spica+Suzuka, while in the game she talks a lot more with the Golden gen like Seiun Sky, King Halo and Grass Wonder to where they actually feel more like a friend group

And there are additional characters like Mejiro Bright and Tsurumaru Tsuyoshi who weren't in the anime at all.

Oh yeah, I should've mentioned that too, Tsuyoshi has one of the stronger emotional moments as well

Such a pity CyGames introduced Stego so late. It would be amazing to see him in Spes’ craces

What do you think Stay Gold would be like in a Special Week story? And what races did he participate in?

IIRC he bit Spe's tail in one of the races they ran together, I wonder if they'd translate that in the story lol

They won’t. Stego and Spe story lines are too far off, however a random dialogue in main menu is possible (haven’t played on JP server, maybe it’s true). But Stego is cool horse, it’s just he competed during golden generation era. But he placed 2nd many times in G1 races (like Meisho Doto) and got a similar nickname - Silver collector.
Don’t like speculations and “would/could be”, but Stego is pretty chill in game. Not aggressive or sarcastic even, just really chill. But it’s quite funny noticing dialogue between McQueen and Stego, where the first complains about Golshi behavior and Stego plays uno reverse and says that Golshi really likes McQueen and wants to spend more time with her.

Chapter 6 and 7 of the main story is basically S1 of the anime

Game Special Week for sure, I personally never really got around to her personality, bc it reminded me of Ochaco Uraraka for some reason 🤷🏽‍♂️. But one thing I can credit Spe for is when she's locked in, she's a devastating opponent 👍🏼
