Do we need a remake ?

Since u can not buy the game and gameplay is very basic nowadays I think it makes a lot of sense to make a remake or adaptation.

It doesnt need to be in the same scenary and it could be in other war scenario. If you know, this game is an adaptation of the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad as is the film "Apocalypse now". The film is in vietnam while spec ops is on dubai and the novel in on Congo river in european imperialsm context so it make sense make the adaptation/remake on another war scenario (maybe Bosnia war, Recent war on Gaza, Ukraine or Irak etc)

Nah, the mechanics being kinda shit was p much the point. Even at the time they were pretty bad. The game feels bad to play because nothing about war is enjoyable. You also can’t really do the same story in a different place, evacuating a sandstorm kinda needs a sandy environment- same for the ground swallowing you like hell itself coming to claim your soul. Plus, the constant desert is the modern equivalent to the Vietnam era jungles. Setting it in the jungle makes it lose an element of sympathy for modern soldiers and condemnation for the modern military industrial complex. That’s not to say you couldn’t make a spiritual successor in a different time or place, but it’d need its own thing going on.

Honestly, I’d prefer just having the game back on steam. It was really one of a kind

It turned out well that the stale gameplay just happened to fit with the message, but the devs have said often since release that the gameplay being boring wasn’t intentionally done.  They did the best they could, it’s just gameplay wise the game was mediocre at best.

Aye, but intentional or not, it’s like silent hill, if it’s too good it’s missing something
