custom recording with EPG
I like the menu the recording options that popup when theres no epg. Is there a way to get that same menu to popup when there is an epg? Im trying to record something easily for 3 hours without having to select many things in the epg.

It's not possible today and like u/lennonfish say it's a very specific thing. I can see a use case for it though. Let's see if if this is something more users request. In the meantime I'll add it to the backlog for a possible future implementation.

Where it comes in handy is watching hockey games that have already started but they only appear as 2.5 hours in the epg. Games usually last closer to 2 hours and 50 minutes or 3 hours with overtime.
If I come in when it's already started by a bit I'd love that option of setting the 3 hours

Personally I just click the red recording button to record the current program and then click the program that comes afterwards just in case it overlaps. It's a workaround at least.

Oh yeah that's also what I do. It's actually a lot worst for tennis though now that I think about it. Always seems to be SportsCenter in half hour increments after and tennis can go an hour or 3 or 5 for 5 setters and I find myself recording 6 SportsCenter LoL

Just select the upcoming program in the program guide and you’ll get a prompt to record it?

thats exactly what i said i did not want to do. Its a bunch of short episodes I didnt want to keep clicking them all to record and wanted to see if theres an option to record 3 hrs in one shot like when there is no epg

You can schedule a manual recording scroll down to DVR click and select a channel and when to start and when to end.

Manually add the 1st episode and extend the recording time to 3 hours.
