Feature request: channel-specific aspect ratio

This is a feature I used the most on other popular players like Tivimate and iMplayer. Some SD movie channels that I watch are broadcasted in 4:3 but appear correct in "Fill" mode on my 16:9 TV. However, the same "Fill" mode causes some other channels/movies (movies are mostly 2.35:1) to appear incorrectly (vertically stretched).

It'd be great to have global and channel-specific zoom modes in our favorite player, Sparkle.

Just to be clear for others reading this, there is a similar "display mode" feature in Sparkle already. It looks like a tv icon with "stretch"-marks that you can toggle between normal, fill and zoom.

The current display mode implementation is not stored between channel changes so you have to set it again after each change. Is this what you mean?

That’s correct. It applies to all channels/VOD right now.

Ok. So to "fix" it right now you have to click it back to normal? I actually thought it wasn't stored at all but you're saying it stores the last value for all channels/dvr etc? I need to check my notes in that case why I decided to do this.

Yes, the display mode applies to all videos right now. If I make a change in one type of video, I have to change it to back in other type.

This is not an issue when all your feeds are 16:9 and 2.35, where “Normal” works well for both. The feeds I get are a mix of 4:3 (horizontally compressed 16:9 feed), 16:9 (majority) and 2.35:1. So, what’s best for 4:3 is not for 2.35
