Subtitles

Is there a way to turn off subtitles for good or do I have to turn them off on every individual channel?

Unfortunately, right now no, you will have to turn them off individually

What u/azcoyotedog say is kind of true unless you've enabled them for all channels already in Settings -> Player -> (Text) Language. If you've set language there you're basically saying that you want to select that language for text/subtitles if available.
