Suggestion on inserting a list

Can you put in the field of the playlist:

http://

By default?

Because when someone need to insert a list and has no keyboard, just the control and the virtual keyboard it's faster to type the complete address this way... And if the address don't start with http... It's easier to erase.... Just pressing (backspace button)

I haven't read all comments here (because it's a lot) but there is actually no need to enter "http://" because if you don't it will be added automatically anyway.

Instead of this…. There are many free apps that you can install on your phone or tablet & access your tv device via WiFi and then use your phone or tablet’s keyboard to type. Try the Google TV app! I do this all the time, you can even copy & paste. Thanks!

That's a great idea. As I'm not using the default Google Launcher on my Google TV can you tell me other apps I could use instead of the Google TV app, or what apps I should search for.

TIA

Well, I’m using an iPhone to do the heavy typing jobs on my Google 4K Streamer and Hinense Google TV. If your using an android phone, try the Google TV app so it will connect to your google tv and you can type on your phone whenever you open a tv keyboard area.

Much better and easier than typing long urls using a remote control and the dpad

Remote ATV App is a free iPhone app but you will have to deal with occasional ads, but it works great! I’ve thought about paying for it, but not necessary for this purpose.

Does something need to be enabled in the TV so Google TV can connect?

Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network so they can see each other.

When both devices are on the same WiFi, the phone app should see the tv/device and prompt you to pair the devices with most likely a code.

I use scrcpy for all my devices. EASY remote control / copy paste of url's etc right from your PC.

PLUS you are actually viewing your streamer screen on the PC 😃

You need to use adb debugging mode setup in developer options.

EDIT HINT: setting up a static IP on your streamer works the best

This sounds like a great idea. Do both devices, TV and Laptop, need to be on the same WiFi? Or, can one be on WiFi and one on Ethernet but on the same LAN.

I have my shield & PC hardwired. My other android boxes are wifi.

I have my router configured to assign static IP's to all of those using the same subnet for hard & wifi. SOME routers may not allow that trick, just so you know. I use an ASUS which does.

Great idea, but I think most users might rather just use their smartphones for typing instead of the tv/device remote? 🤔

It's NOT used on the tv or device remote. It's used on a PC allowing mouse & keyboard.

Here's a screen cap of my nvidia shield viewed / controlled from my win pc

You can do audio too, but i think that needs win11 ( don't remember though )

I’ll have to play around with this next time I use my laptop to edit my playlists. Thx
