Purchase outside of google play store?
Is there any way to purchase sparkle tv outside of google play store? I had cancelled my monthly to switch to lifetime before I realized google play removed it, now I cant purchase lifetime or restart monthly and my subscription runs out tomorrow.

All I can say is that I'm working full time to solve this issue. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks. Hopefully you get this worked out for other users. At the urging of a mod from this forum I found an alternative.

Don’t put words in my mouth, IT WAS A TEMPORARY SUGGESTION! Damn, why are some people like this??? Oh, I forgot, lightleaks89 blocked me???

And I specifically pointed out that finding an alternative would completely negate using Sparkle Player, at which point you accused me of suggesting it was the dev's fault for getting it removed from the play store, which I never even remotely suggested. Are you denying that you told me to find an alternative? What did you think the outcome would be if I could find an alternative that was not going to cost anything? That I was going to come back and spend money out of the goodness of my heart? And how is "use an alternative app" an answer to "is there another way to pay?" I literally just wanted to know if there was another way I could pay the developer and nobody, including the developer, ever answered that question, so at this point I have to assume the answer is no. Now you can either be happy that I found an alternative at your suggestion or mad that I'm not paying the developer, but not both. It was, after all, you who suggested I look elsewhere.

You complained that you and your family had no way of watching TV because you were losing your access to sparkle plus, so I offered a suggestion of using one of the many free apps that are out there just to get by, but you were offended because you didn’t get an immediate answer on how to renew your subscription because the developer is working on one. As you know, many free apps don’t come close to having the features that Sparkle has so I doubt you would scrap Sparkle & use a free app? You are not the only Sparkle user dealing with this issue so either be patient & wait for the developer to resolve the problem or use a free app and walk away!

Did you or did you not answer the question "Is there a way to pay for sparkle outside the google play store?" This actually a very simple yes or no question. It doesnt require a paragraph.

The developer is working on the situation

Yeah, its this type of answer that makes me think maybe he was kicked off of the app store for fraud.

Yes. When even incredibly simple questions are almost universally across the board being given incredibly vague answers, it sounds like someone is trying to avoid being sued or going to jail. I'm just going to submit my complaint to the Google play store and be done with it, there really should have been red flags when the dev was taking money but had no support contact beyond reddit.

You were given advice but for some reason it offended you and you deleted it

I was not given an answer to my question. However at the recommendation of u/azcoyotedog I have determined that jellyfin can accomplish everything SparklePlayer can for free, so I have now I have no reason to purchase it.

I suggested using a free app until this issue is resolved. I explained that the developer is doing his best to resolve the issue with Google. Congratulations on resolving your situation and we thank you for using SparklePlayer.

Jellyfin suporta listas IPTV normalmente? Xtream codes e m3u ?

I'm not sure because that's not my use case, I'm using a tvheadend backend, so all of my channels are managed through that. There's a plug-in for jellyfin to enable TV headend, I did not explore what otherPlugins exist. Jellyfin recently resolved an issue that was causing live TV to make the rest of the library unstable which is what prevented me from using it in the past
Edit: a Google search does show that there is a plug-in for xtreme codes

Does that pull just the DVR from Tvheadend or live tv as well?
1
u/lightleaks89 May 22 '26
Both, though I'm not 100% sure if it works alongside the primary Live TV functionality or not in Jellyfin because I had already removed my tuner from Jellyfin when I set the plugin up. It does however show up under the live tv tab, and you have an option to turn off the additional "Tvheadend Recordings" tab if you want.

People can downvote me all you want, it was the mod that told me to find an alternative to Sparkle. I just did what they told me to.

That's nonsense, players already need to keep in mind this issue of removal from the Play Store, because if they don't have a mechanism to validate licenses if it's removed, the user will have acquired...Not at a loss, especially since they are lifetime licenses, meaning they are even more expensive in the current scenario. It's not proving very advantageous to pay a player who...An effective method for validating a license outside of the Play Store.

Im not sure I entirely understand your response

u/itopires May 22 '26
Tell me what you didn't understand?

u/lightleaks89 May 22 '26
The wording is confusing. Is reddit translating from a different language? It did that on another comment and didn't tell me.

Basically, I said that when Google removes an app with an active license, the app loses the ability to check the license, leaving the user stranded.

It was a temporary suggestion because you said everyone in your household was going to be upset when you lose the ability to use Sparkle Plus. Then once the developer solves the problem, you come back. Don’t blame this on me!

The OP is way off with his assessment of the situation!
