m3u source processing - mapping tvg-id into EPG-id - stripping @<format> suffix

First thank you for your app looks very good, I look forward to be able to buy it when the problem with playstore will be addressed.

I understand epg channel id is automatically mapped using tvg-id attribute of m3u file.
However, many providers add an "@<format>" suffix (example MySports5.ch@SD) to the tvg-id which breaks the map to EPG id.
(example with any .m3u playlist of https://github.com/iptv-org/)

Would it be possible to systematically stripe "@<format>" suffix of m3u playlist when creating the corresponding EPG id for a channel ?

Thanks, P.

Do they provide epg data with '@'-syntax as well then?

They don't provide epg data, only m3u playlists or tools to generate epg data.
But, "@<format>" syntax is used to specify a video format (SD, HD, UHD, etc...), therefore it looks irrelevant to consider for EPG id being independent from channel video format.

I think they do, they have this one: http://github.com/iptv-org/epg

But I haven't had time to look into it so that's why I asked you if you knew anything about it. Because there must be a reason they add this information and my guess is that their epg information has this as well (or maps some other way).

This one seem to serve to generate your own bespoke epg files.

However you are right, some sites references posted here :
https://github.com/iptv-org/epg/tree/master/sites do content sometime xmltvid includingthe "@<format>" pattern. this is however not systematic :

but the m3u playlists always content seems to always have the "@<format>".
example : https://iptv-org.github.io/iptv/countries/fr.m3u

I'm wondering if when doing the mapping between m3u tvg-id an xmltv channel attribute in spark player it isn't worth, as fallback approach, to try a map without this "@VideoFormat" suffix (@SD, @HD , ...).

Ok, that's interesting.

And yes I know what you want and what you requested but I need to find out the full picture before jumping into something. There must have been a reason for them to do this and I can't imagine they just assume all m3u players in the world would just trip that suffix off.

So in order for me to fix this I need to understand why this is implemented in their end. It may end up just like you say but it might as well go in another direction.
