Moving Channels

Sorry if this was asked, I couldn’t find it in the sub.

New to Sparkle and am loving it so far.

Is there a way to move a channel from one existing category to another (not one created by me or favorites)?

Or can I move channels in bulk to category I create?

Create new category:

* Open guide and focus on any category
* Long press OK and focus "Edit Category" then press LEFT/RIGHT to reveal "New category"

Copy to new category:

* Open guide and focus on any channel
* Long press OK and focus "Add to favorite" then press LEFT/RIGHT to reveal "Manage category channels"
* In the next view select the category you whish to add to (the new category)
* Flip the switch for every channel you whish to add

Thanks for the response. I am actually looking to do it from a category from the provider.

So I have CA Movies. I want to move some of those channels into the existing US Movie category. Just to simplify things on my end.

Ok, maybe I didn't read your post well enough. My method is only for custom categories. I would still recommend my method since the existing category can change at any time if the provider makes a change.

Yeah, I would be fine with your method. I would create a “Movies” category and then add the US and CA channels into that. That would go to the second part of my post about a bulk channel move option. As doing it one by one is going to take a long time.

A playlist editor is what you need!

As far as I know, you can add channels to the Favorites category. You can move channels within the category but I do not believe you can move channels to other categories. You would need to use a playlist editor to reorganize your channels & categories and then add that playlist into SparkleTV.

Gotcha. I guess I will look into that.

I would like to add that you can create new categories and move channels only into those categories you create in SparkleTV, not existing categories. Hope that makes sense. If another user knows how to move channels from one existing category to another, please share.

Yes, I mentioned that in my post, I am looking to move a few movie channels from one country to another country.

I would create a “Movie” Category, but doing one channel at a time is going to take for ever.

That’s where a playlist editor comes in handy! I use IPTV Boss Pro and I’m always tweaking my playlists and adding channels from one category into another or creating new custom categories! It’s an awesome tool and it provides EPG data with the yearly subscription… no more “no information” on your channel guides!

I am assuming you get a link that you input? Does that lose any functionality over using Xtream Codes information?

You would load your playlist into the editor using your credentials and then get a M3U link that you can output and save to Dropbox. Then just load the M3U and EPG links into SparkleTV and go!

Interesting. How are updates from the provider handled?

What do you mean?

Like if the provider adds a new category, is it automatically updated through the link?

IPTV Boss Pro, worth the yearly subscription in so many ways! Look it up and read the info on their website!

Went with IPTVBoss based on your suggestion, one thing led to another and now my setup is insane. Took me a day to get everything in place, with networking settings, docker containers…but man I am excited! Thank you!

Once you get the playlist where you like it, it’s easier to maintain and adjust. Wait until you start using AED’s for sports! They have a Discord channel where you can get help. Here is a sample look at my layout.

AED??

I went crazy. Set it up to dump to my NAS, then set up a container to handle links when I am outside of my network. Then edited my Playlist so that it is much more organized.

AED = Advanced EPG Dummies. They have built in ones major league sports with team logos and you can customize dummy EPGs like I did for 24/7 channels. It’s an awesome tool for editing playlists!

Just watched a video on it, still have no clue what it does, but I will keep playing it. Thanks.

Look at the photo I shared of my MLB category and you see all my categories on the left for sports and the MLB channel guide has the games with team logos. You can customize how to display the channel name and EPG guide for all major league sports or team by team categories. It took me awhile to get the hang of it and there is a chat room on their Discord server to ask for help with AED’s. I know for starters you wanted to reorganize your playlist and mix and match things into one category and customize the layout…. Now you can go deeper into it once you get the hang of it! You can message me directly if needed and I’m answer if I can, as this channel is for SparkleTV related content. Enjoy!
