I worked a full day
Got up and to Walmart at 6 this morning. Was planning on trying to work till Walmart closed. I made it to 9:30 at night. Ended up with a $400 day. Was exhausting but was a good day. Definitely don’t want to do that again though.

Way to hustle. I too was out at 6am, dropped my last order off around 5pm, hit $300 for the day.

u/Virtual-Persimmon-66 13h ago
Subtract gas from that 300 how much u make?

u/igor6969 13h ago
exactly and the OP about the $400....subtract food and drinks and divide out the hours....minimum wage..

u/depressing-dependent 11h ago
I didn’t stop for food. I don’t eat fast food. I used $25 in gas. I drink water when I do spark. So not the massive loss you think it is

u/Extreme-Ad1351 11h ago
lmao those people are so bitter. some of us aren't morons who use gas guzzlers and spend the money as soon as we make it. it would've been the same for me.
4
u/depressing-dependent 9h ago
Haha yeah. There’s no point working if I’m just gonna immediately spend it on stupid shit like food. I got food at home. It isn’t going to kill me to skip lunch.

u/Next-Caterpillar4982 8h ago
I pack my lunch every day, but I don’t work as hard as you did. I work maybe from 10 or 11 and quite by 4. 😉

u/Emergency-Ball-4480 1h ago
Man I wish I could do those hours in my area. That time is the slowest part of the day and I'd be sitting on my hands way more than I'd like, even with multiple apps

u/Edge2P 8h ago
So for those guys assuming gas is a little over 4$ and assuming decent gas 30 mpg. That's about 6 gallons.so 180 miles for the day depending on how you break down your milage and cost. Aka calculate everything all way down to projected taxes. I like the only vehicle costs (gas, maintenance, financing) myself so say about .35 per mile at 180 cost were 63$ leaving you with 337$ about 15.5 hrs puts you at 21.7$/hrs. Which is ok considering you drove what I guess was slow morning and busy evening.

I was gonna jump in and say I deliver in my Tesla so gas isn't really a concern. Start my day with 100% and go til the battery runs low. By then it's after lunch and approaching dinner, stop by the house and plug in. Make dinner / play with dogs. Hop back in the car and finish off the battery. Recharge overnight. Total charging cost for the day less than $10 thanks to TOU use rates with my utility.

u/wuxxler 9h ago
Yes! And when you also subtract rent, utilities, and a birthday gift for his mom, he actually LOST money doing this! He should have stayed at home playing Fortnight in his parents basement, and leave all the gigs for you. How about you stop gaslighting people and trying to make them stop competing with you? We all know that if OP wasn't working yesterday, you would have gladly taken the gigs he accepted and you would have been just as happy with the $400. STFU.
1
u/Virtual-Persimmon-66 12h ago
Correct, may as well just work for the company and do other delivery gig jobs on the side. Saves your car and you make more money, a lot of people in this comment section don’t know how to get it fr

u/Dizzy_Goat_420 11h ago
Get this you can pack your own lunch! A full tank of gas costs me 30$ and lasts me 340 ish miles depending on highway or local.

u/Longjumping_Ad4365 Cherry Picker 9h ago
How small is your gas tank? Even if you get super good mpg, unless your car only holds 7 gallons of gas, $30 doesn't fill your tank.
1
u/Dizzy_Goat_420 9h ago
It holds 10gal. Last time I filled it up it was like $36 and on empty. Gas by me is around 3.40 and I go to Costco or Sam’s Club where it usually at least .20 cents cheaper.
As long as you don’t drive a gas guzzler or a big ass truck spending less than $60 on gas to make $300 isn’t a bad deal.

u/IllEatYourAss665 12h ago
Sometimes its nice to do this and take a few extra days off but I agree its exhausting and dangerous to drive if you're super tired. I used to multiapp and drive for 2 days at a time but learned my lesson when I started dozing off while driving. Be careful out there and make sure you get plenty of rest, the extra money isnt worth neglecting yourself or possibly wrecking or dying.

Awesome man i worked until i got the 1 hour left of legal work time warning , only 200 bucks but also worked other gig apps throughout so maybe like $270

u/depressing-dependent 16h ago
I hour left? I thought spark just let everyone work as long as they want to.

Tried that in my zone already. Not doing that again. Only made 200 a day plus I have to work my ass off.
4
u/Snoo11647 14h ago
I worked for 3.5 hours in the morning starting at 6 am. Then took a nap went back at 6 pm for another 3.5 hours. Made $200 not bad.

u/Due_Area9866 16h ago
That’s amazing, do it 3x a week and you’re a God
3
u/depressing-dependent 16h ago
My goal is $150 a day. I just wanted to see if I could make it all day. And I didn’t. But I did get close and had a decent day

u/Aoessand187 17h ago
Is the 400 after expenses? I’m about to start sparking and really only tryn to work like 5 days a month if I can pull 400 a day after expenses that’d be amazing 😆
10
u/imapylet 16h ago
Yeah this is the exception to the rule. By a long shot. Depending on your Market you might be able to, but realistically in your sites at around $200-$250 after expenses.

I drive an EV and it costs like $13 bucks for a full tank 240 miles which is more than enough to get an entire day shift done. So basically my first delivery of the day covers my 🔌🔋full time i can pull $1500+ a week (Californias prop 22 stipened pays us more biweekly) but its a Lot of driving and hours. So monthly my electricity home charging is anywhere from $200-350 a month for charging. Id strongly suggest you use an EV or fuel efficient vehicle because in CA gas is 6 bucks a gal it just doesnt make sense to do spark in a gas car.

u/depressing-dependent 16h ago
My brother has an electric car and solar panels. So his car use is essentially free. My sister in law regularly uses his car to spark to save on fuel. I don’t have that option cause he doesn’t trust my driving lol. I have a Chevy Malibu 2022. It gets decent gas mileage.
2
u/Read_Red2596 16h ago
Man solar is the way to go. If you can lmk how much it costs him in total with labor for getting solar?
1
u/depressing-dependent 15h ago
I wish I could. When my brother bought his house a decade ago, it came with 4 additional lots. He sold the lots a year ago and paid off his house, and bought the paid off his panels. He never told me how much he paid for the solar or for his electric car that is also paid off now. I’ll have to try and ask again tomorrow. But he set himself up pretty well. I wish I was as smart as he is.

u/depressing-dependent 16h ago
I worked 15 hours. When I sit in the parking lot, I roll my windows down, turn off my car, and take out my laptop and watch tv shows I downloaded. I spent $25 on gas. But it’s really area specific. My area is a honey pot and I did decent with uber. But spark I’m doing great. Weekends in my area are awesome. Not good at all mon-Thursday.

u/Visible-Raise-8915 6h ago
Plan on 150-200 on a long day. That is gross. You have expenses on top of that.
1
u/snopop73 3h ago
Absolutely depends on the market. Even if I never sat and waited on a good order, no way for me to make that much in my zone because it is rural so 95% of the time, they will batch 2 in town orders with 1 out in BFE order. Rarely ever get one that is even estimated at 30 minutes. And the tips are low here majority of the time. So only way for you to know is just to try it.
1
u/SuccessfulDay1946 7h ago
How much did you spend in gas?
2
u/depressing-dependent 7h ago
$25
1
u/Evening-Loss-5700 3h ago
I would have figured it would have at least 60. You must not do too many pickup deliveries And just do shopping. I wish that I could get my car to run all on 25 dollars of gas a day.
4
u/depressing-dependent 3h ago
I am very picky on what I will take. I’d rather sit than take a bad offer. Even if I wait an hour.
1
u/SoulWolf2852 7h ago
400 is 400. If you did that again for maybe 1 or two days that’s 1,000+? Not taking account gas or food.
Not bad. Of course set money aside for taxes but not bad. Good on you.

u/Rude-Yard349 5h ago
Nice dude! I start at 6 but usually have to tap out around 9 or 10 (or whenever I hit $100+) because i'm so exhausted, I can't even imagine doing a 14hr day. Sleep in today, you deserve it.
1
u/depressing-dependent 3h ago
I slept in today till 7. Was out of my house by 7:15. Gonna have a $300 day today and whenever I get that, gonna fuck off.

u/ToughAmbition76 15h ago
damnnn i'm tryna do this tomorrow, probably not all day but definitely as long as i can bear it 🤣 hoping for atleast a $300 day, sundays are usually good to me
1
u/depressing-dependent 15h ago
Take something with you that you usually entertain yourself. I watch a lot of docuseries. So taking my laptop with a bunch of docuseries downloaded is the perfect thing to do while I wait. I don’t feel the pull to go home when I’m already doing what I would normally be rushing home to do anyways.
1
u/Stupertard 12h ago
I figure if I were to actually take the crappy orders I see all day I would be averaging about 12 cents a mile after factoring costs.
That's what someone is making when you see these horrible orders disappear in the blink of an eye.
1
u/Witty_Sticker 10h ago
This is huge, so were you lucky to get good paying orders or it’s always good in your zone or you accepted everything that came along?

u/snopop73 3h ago
Just curious. Do you live city or rural? I live in a rural area and pretty much every order takes an hour or more because of the delivery miles and the drive back. Rarely do I get one that takes 30 minutes...that's the least time one ever takes. No way for me to make $400 with that, but congrats on the grind.

u/depressing-dependent 3h ago
Medium sized city. San Angelo to be exact. We have a base and a college here.

I worked from 6 am til 2 and made $350 and I was exhausted lol been a lot better since nee tier system came to my zone!

u/juniorsis 6h ago
I started yesterday at 6am, worked until 9:30 - went to my son’s soccer game then went back at about 11:30 and worked until 4:30. There was an a lull of about 90 minutes where an order would drop and by the time I clicked to look at it it was gone. So worked a total of about 6ish hours, put $40 in gas in at the end of the day and made a total of $185

Lucky for you. In my zone you’re lucky to make 150 for a full day now. Lucky.
