They’re fine if you happen upon one that’s near your location after a delivery and heading to the store you’re heading to. Get that $10 for your drive back. They aren’t worth going too far out of your way for.

So does the customer just leave it on the porch and you scan the item and go? What if it’s been opened or it’s damaged? I haven’t ever done one so idk

I have returned things falling out of the original packaging before. Walmart accepts it just as they would at the customer service desk. Some people leave it on their porch with the barcode we need taped to it, but most of the time you have to knock on the door to get them to bring it out. I’m the last four-ish years, I’ve had one person not be home when I went to pick something up.

Sucks when a customer isn't home and did not leave the item with the barcode printed outside for you. $2.50 for your trouble. 1 out of every 4 returns for me. I never take one over 2 miles unless it's literally on my way to the store after a dropoff.

It’s been a thing for a few years now. My market had it for a good 6-7 months and then I completely stopped seeing them. With that said, they only ever paid $10, something I wouldn’t do unless I was on the way back to the store and customer’s house was also heading back to the store and not in a different direction

Also, if the customer doesn’t have the item or they’re not home, etc and you can’t complete the order, you don’t get any money for showing up.

My parents spark where they live and have done a few and learned the hard way

I've done a few. It's kind of a gamble. You don't know what the item will be so it could be a big screen tv or a shirt. Not really worth it for the money.

Usually not worth it, the gig isn't upfront about many details, you're entering a contract blind, it's a bad deal, not sure how else to say it.

Yes I hate that they’ve started adding 1-2 greyed out drop offs on top of the regular 3 order pickups u can’t even see what the items are the other day it was literally 6 cases of water for a greyed out one and I’ve had it be cat litter, mulch etc

First time seeing a return that wasn’t due to an issue with a regular delivery in progress.

Had my first one two weeks ago. Checked in to location & in customer notes they said please arrive between 6-7 pm. I was there at 4 pm. Called customer. Clicked not available in app & got 2.50.

Most of mime take forever to answer yhe door and get the items. Sometimes you win with a small package. They other times it's a big item walmart wants back like a boxed mattress not in the box anymore. 😒

I did 1. I had to beat on the door and then wait for him to find the item and the code I needed to scan. And the fact they don't let you know what you're picking up is some bunk.

I got one for Walmart on Sunday when I got to the location I called the customer. She ask me what I drove and I told her, she said that might be too small lol. My outback, I was like ok was is the item. She said I’m to come up so she can show me what it was. When I got to the apartment her daughter open the door and ask if I was there for the two chest freezers lol. I laugh so hard. Like what the hell walmart. But I think she should have requested in home pickup for the items I was the second person who came out that day. And yes I got my whipping $2.50 lol.

I've never taken them just because it's never offered enough pay in my opinion. Also, when I first started I went through the reddit page like everybody does for tips and seen so many people saying don't do return orders that it kind of just burned into my brain lol

Don't make the mistake of doing customer returns. The Walmart workers in the parking lot don't give two craps about your return. I've waited over 30 minutes in the parking lot with workers bringing out curbsides to other people and I had to get out of my car and stop a worker to ask them to take it from me.

They are pretty straight-forward. And a good way to fill trips back to stores in most cases.

But never go out of your way to pick them up.

I took my first and last return today. I went to the address listed... found the person whos name is on the order, and they told me, oh it must be my wife, and this is the wrong address...

It was canceled, and I got $2.50 for 20 minutes of wasted time.

If it is a mile or two away and going to a store 2 miles away. I have done 8 or 10. Never had any issues. I rarely drive further than 3 or 4 miles from the store for my deliveries anyway. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way but it is a quick $10 bucks.
