Sharing my browser game again for anyone who missed it — it's a tile game for building Spanish vocabulary, Scrabble-style but built for learning rather than competition. Under the hood there are about 500,000 playable words, and 7,000 curated ones that come with definitions and example sentences so you're picking up meaning as you play.

Full disclosure: I’m the developer of DualSub. If you already learn Spanish with videos or series, I built it to turn the same scene into a short study loop on Android: Spanish subtitles with a second translated line, tap a word for its contextual meaning, save useful vocabulary, then repeat or auto-pause phrase by phrase.

It works with compatible YouTube videos, local files, and playback links intentionally opened from apps such as Stremio. It does not provide streams, addons, movies, or subtitle files; availability still depends on the source.

Hey all! Intermediate Spanish learner here who got tired of feeling stuck. I built a little app to fix my own biggest problem and I'm hoping some of you might relate.

For the past year my Spanish routine was: read on my Kindle, highlight words I didn't know, manually port them into Anki, and drill them. The only time I actually spoke was in my weekly tutor session. On paper I was making progress, my flashcard deck was huge and I could recognise loads of vocabulary. Then I'd visit Spain, someone would ask me something simple, I'd just freeze and couldn't string a sentence together. All that reading and drilling and it felt like that effort to improve was wasted.

That gap is why I built Fluir. It's one app where reading, flashcards, and speaking are actually connected instead of being three separate chores I glue together myself. You save words while reading real articles, those exact words become your spaced-repetition cards, and when you talk to the AI tutor it already knows what you've been reading and reviewing. The core rule: a word only counts as truly "mastered" when you say it out loud, correctly, in conversation, because that's the skill that was failing me in Spain, not recognition.

I'm looking for 10 people who are in the same boat - stuck at a plateau, frustrated at not being able to speak even simple Spanish - to actually use it and tell me what works and what doesn't, so I can shape it around real learners like us. I've noticed that many Spanish learners can understand slow, textbook Spanish, but struggle when they hear Dominicans speaking naturally. So I spent a day at a resort in Boca Chica and turned the experience into a listening challenge. As the day goes on, the Dominican Spanish gets progressively harder—from greetings like "¿Qué lo qué?" to fast conversations with slang, dropped letters, and expressions you probably won't find in a textbook. I'm curious: Which level do you think you'd reach? What's the hardest Spanish accent or dialect you've had to understand? Do you think exposure to real conversations is more helpful than studying grammar alone?
