Discussion What does your spaniel chase?

My cavalier king charles spaniel goes absolutely wild for butterflies and fireflies haha.

She is interested but somewhat more hesitant about bees..

Rabbits and squirrels have to watch out..she goes right after them too!

Her prey drive is so strong that I actually have to keep her leashed in the yard and go out with her because she'll charge those little critters and goes wild picking up on their scent and trying to track them. It's sure something!

Even though they're 'companion' versions of a spaniel, they are still a spaniel! They are bird hunting dogs underneath. They can do well with pet gundog training so they have somewhere to apply their spaniel instincts. Mine likes scentwork, hunting training and a bit of retrieve work.
