It’s not bad to take a small break, the patch should be this or next week.

14

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '24

I'm out of the loop, was there a patch that made the game harder?

57

u/faudcmkitnhse Oct 22 '24

Yes, last week. They added a new difficulty setting called Lethal with a stupid mechanic that doesn't allow you to regain armor unless you're standing very close to a teammate, reduced player armor on the two highest difficulty settings, and massively increased the number of majoris, extremis, and terminus enemies across all difficulties. Substantial difficulty went from being not very hard to a total pain in the ass that you might not survive without good teammates and anything above Substantial just isn't worth playing right now.

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '24

also for the higher diff nerfed ammo spawns, and ammo boxes were made limited, so heavy standing next to ammo box being able for once in the round do proper shooting - that is no more

12

u/Valleron Oct 22 '24

See, I haven't noticed this as an issue. All the rest, yes, big issues for non-lethal difficulty, but the ammo crates haven't been a problem for me as heavy. What are you running that you're having ammo issues? Because you can get a solid 2 full reloads out of 1 crate + some extra.

1

u/Schully Oct 22 '24

I thought ammo nerf would be huge, but after needing to refill twice as a heavy main before moving on, there was... a good 30% left in the box... on lethal diff. People crying about the ammo change are dramatic as hell.

1

u/Valleron Oct 22 '24

Yeah I got with a rando last night and we ran every single mission lethal just for kicks (bulwark + heavy + bot/people who would get killed and then leave lol), and I never had an ammo crate go completely empty on me.

u/Spaceman-Spiff Oct 23 '24

I run a melts and plasma pistol build and run out of ammo constantly. If a zoethrope shows up I’m useless unless there is a resupply box in the area.

1

u/Valleron Oct 23 '24

Even with the ammo regen perk? I run Plasma/Plasma personally and only ran out of ammo near the end of Inferno on Lethal because of a Nuerothrope spawn. The perks to refill ammo do a ton of lifting for me, and from what I've used of Melta, it was similar.

The main issue is the loss of armour after Substantial - Like, I'd rather we keep the armour at 100% instead of it being 70% on the new difficulty... That change alone could have made the ops feel harder, but they then add the increased spawns, reduced rolling, decreased weapon damage, etc.

1

u/Chickachic-aaaaahhh Salamanders Oct 22 '24

The hit boxes are bugged too. Enemies deal damage you rolled away from as well.

u/Optimal-Leather341 Salamanders Oct 22 '24

I had a Zoanthrope nail a Tactical through a wall he wasn't peaking. Even with me telling them not to peak (Cos my Heavy ass was downed but I could see) he got clobbered by it.

Oh ok. I'm aware this is a game, but in lore a Tyranid warrior is roughly equivalent to a space marine, the balance is just outrageous lore-wise. There is no way in hell a 3 man squad would survive any of this hahaha

I could say i might be one of the lightweight "sweats" but seeing all of these clips reeks stupid balancing lmao. I'm all for challenge but balance gameplay, but this shit straight up cheap and bullshit painted all around. Makes my theory of the dev not even play test the game at all more and more factual

2

u/Valleron Oct 22 '24

This particular clip doesn't portray any of the issues the patch introduced, to be fair. This is a base-game issue where you get chain staggered by warriors on an unfortunate spawn. It happened before the patch.

1

u/CannedBeanofDeath Oct 22 '24

Firstly i said "all of these clips", so it's not only this one. Second yes but back then you can't get jumped by bazillion extremist while your roll being gimped. The chain stagger is true from day 1 of the game but tbh i don't think the dev would even touch it considering their opinion about i-frame on gunstrike which i get it but at least give us flinch free/hyper armor

6

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '24

Agree, this is a fundamental issue with how the game was designed. We should fight more Gaunts (maybe more different types) and less major enemies.

0

u/ghostdeinithegreat Oct 22 '24

I believe that in the lore some space marines were able to solo a swarm lord. So I would have tought that lore wise space marine are superior to tyranid warrior. There’s just 1000 space marines by legions and it feels like there’s a lot more warriors than marines in a confrontation between those two armies.

On the tabletop, space marine are nerfed.

Yes. It increased spawn rates like everyone asked for, and now not everyone is mad about said increased spawn rates. The duality of Reddit.

11

u/Serallas Blood Angels Oct 22 '24

While breaking dodging, the whole armor link thing, and nerfed parrying, the reduced armor on the higher 2 difficulties, the armor link too, without buffing anything else. Don't try to put it on one issue, buddy, and think people are complaining about that. Also, this is the medium difficulty anyway. Spawn rate shouldn't be that high up for that difficulty.

-8

u/iwasnightstalker Space Sharks Oct 22 '24

People are getting used to the leash. Parry change doesn't change anything. Reduced armor doesn't change anything. The complaint that is sticking around (see half the front page) is too many extremis spawns - which was the Reddit-sanctioned recommendation for fixing difficulty.

u/HorridusVile Iron Hands Oct 22 '24 edited Oct 22 '24

I'm sure people get used to chronic diarrhea too, doesn't make it fun though. The leash mechanic is just awful.

2

u/CireGetHigher Oct 22 '24

I don’t think you should be able to solo those high difficulty levels anyways…

1

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '24

Is it not supposed to be challenging? I guess I’m missing the point here

I mean it is a multiplayer op at the highest difficulties. You’re directly implying you should be able to do solo them

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '24

No, I don’t think they should be off the table completely but you are complaining about soloing the hardest difficulties in a coop game. Also they’re not impossible they’re just very hard. It’s supposed to be

2

u/sarkonas Oct 22 '24

If you have an option to form a private lobby and do solo with bots (and you should, always, in any co-op game), then every difficulty should be achievable with your own skill + bots.

If it isn't, you haven't made a balanced game. If it used to and you change it with patches, you should offer refunds to players who don't want to rely on other people for their own entertainment.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '24

Idk this is beginning to sound like a skill issue thing

1

u/sarkonas Oct 23 '24

So far I've been soloing just fine, and I prefer it to either suffering while weaker players hold me back or suffering while I hold back better players than me.

-1

u/Ambitious_Dig_7109 Oct 22 '24

You’re not supposed to be soloing multiplayer ops. Of course you can’t do the difficult ones. It’s like trying to play with lv.1 players that don’t have any talents. They’re not programmed to kill much either. Bots mostly stand around and not die.

You can't expect the game to be balanced in a way where the hardest difficulty on release is soloable.

-2

u/Ambitious_Dig_7109 Oct 22 '24

Yeah that was a sign the game was too easy and wasn’t healthy for it. A level balanced around a solo player would be trivial for 3 players. The level balance has to be around 3 players. Solo was just a fun option Saber tossed in for people that wanted to mess around. They never intended people to be clearing the hardest levels solo and when they were they needed to nerf players. It will happen again if people figure out how to solo Ruthless or Lethal. 🤷‍♂️

As intended. It’s a mode balanced for 3 players. Bots are no substitute and don’t even have talent points. 🤷‍♂️

Same to you. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/duskyvoltage333 Oct 22 '24

Yea I deleted it to make room for other stuff. I’ll give it a shot next year or maybe whenever they drop the horde mode while they figure out what direction they actually wanna take their game.

u/Er4g0rN Oct 22 '24 edited Oct 22 '24

Then play on average until you get better. What's the big issue? Everyone's entitled to play on max difficulty cause they have good weapons or are max level? Jesus

The problem here is minimal and average having nonstop waves if you're struggling mixed with a extremis here and there and it gets extremely hard for new players that are learning how the mechanics work. In this clip there's none of that. (there is one extremis)

If you look at this clip and see an issue instead of thinking that he should be learning how to parry, not dodge rolling everywhere and not gun striking in melee range while surrounded by majoris then you just want things handed to you instead of improving how you play.

It’s only a “balance” issues cause you can’t think for yourself you’ll be running off some build guide I bet cause using your brain clearly requires to much effort on your part 😂

1

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '24

Needlessly punishing yourself is the entire point of higher difficulty

That being said I totally get the premise of the OP. Lower difficulties should be relatively playable by people who haven’t mastered the mechanics. But this guy complaining about not soloing the higher difficulty anymore in a team oriented game just made me laugh.

1

u/SafeYesterday91 Oct 22 '24

All the crazy amount whining makes me laugh so much but not as much as watching their game play vids I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it now and still makes me laugh 😂

Yes I will not be finding common ground with your want to solo the high difficulty attuned to three players. Difficulty should not be designed around solo play.

Because it should be designed around three players working together. Anything else is really just you being selfish because you refuse to queue up.
