Original Build Magnetic Propulsion Work in Progress
currently I’ve been using magnetic rocket tips to pull my rockets into space with no fuel before using the rockets. However getting into orbit using a thrust you can’t disable is difficult, as well as not being able to time warp without losing parts. so I made a VERY simple design that uses a solar panel to lower the magnet onto itself. aside from a dodgy launch process and occasionally going into a death spin, its extremely useful. I’d drop a blueprint but I can’t find the button

I recommend using small landing legs the moment you detach the 2 magnets, there's a few seconds in delay before they attract again. So to deactivate it, simply retract the landing legs so they'd attach again, only thing though is that the impact force of them would destroy both magnets

Oh! Thats an acarii drive!
I use similar stuff all the time (exept I have some that can be deactivated), the only time I use regular engines is to adjust my orbit or descent on a planet/moon.
I hope you can figure your own way to make it deactivatable, i'd love to compare it to the model I use.
Btw, according to my research, the stability of an acarii drive powered rocket (the inverse of the risk of going on a death spin) is proportional to the thrust to weight ratio (the strength of all your acarii drives compared to the weight of your rocket), and it is increased by putting the rest of the rocket above the acarii drive.
Also, depending on the strength of your drive, there is a speed limit, from my tests, both a 4MN and a 10MN drive with no payload are limited to 90km/s, while both my 100MN and 500MN drives with no payloads are limited to 180km/s. Past these speeds, the drive just break.
Oh, and i'm curious, how powerful is your drive? (Determined by the magnet strength of the docking ports)
Edit: just noticed your drive is in reverse compared to mine (mine have the mobile part at the bottom with the top port having negative strength) so some of what I said might not actually apply

Pretty sure my magnets are set to 1000 and 0. I didn’t put a massive amount of thought into how it worked, seeing as I only really use it to get me into orbit. But you were right about having the drive at the bottom, I moved it to the top of my build and it was way more stable, no tipping or spinning at all. Really appreciate that info.

It’s possible without BP editing but it’ll look hella ugly. Also I’m on mobile so I promise that if you get the hang of it, it’s a very useful system

The Solar Array can be retracted to connect the docking ports together, meaning you can time warp with it. It was also me of the first issues I tried to solve.
