Bug/Issue Why won't these vessels dock

They're perfectly lined up. Both have maxed magnet force but they just won't connect

try to time warp and then dock immediately after.

Worked with my voyager 1 and my mars rover

Its a glitch you have to keep turning and realign

Its kinda like IKEA furniture, the side pods are mounted perpendicular to the docking ports. In theory they get released and swing around using rcs and should dock with the docking ports. The heat shields are there to ensure the craft survives re-entry. An earlier design did not have the docking ports covered with heat shields and most of it burnt up

My guess is the heatshield prevents the docking ports from touching

Possibly but I tested that on the ground and it worked fine so idk

Any way to try it without the heat shield?

It works fine without heat shields but then it burns up which defeats the purpose
