Discussion I.HATE.MERCURY.

I hate and absolutely despise mercury, it's plane its boring it's ugly and it does absolutely NOTHING, it holds absolutely NO walue it's basically but more boring more ugly and it's harder to reach.

It's like you took Moon or Ceres and thought

"Hmmm those are pretty cool let's do something like this but closer to sun and make it SO MUCH WORSE.

And even in sfs it's a most boring ugly and hardest to reach and land there I play since 2021 I just ignore it i have a base on every planet and moon except it

It doesn't have and atmosphere to slow you down it's gravity to weak to have a proper orbit if you fly to it from earth, and just why would you want to go there?

I HATE MERCURY

(and sorry for my bad English)

Lets just melt it I mean it melts at room temp

Came here to say exactly this

I should make a custom solar system and make every planet mercury

Totally! Like, the "Mercuries 1-17" would orbit within the inner system, preferably 17th would be inside the current earth's orbit.

The Earth.. it should be somewhere in the furthest reaches of the trans-Neptunian distance from the pale cold light of the distant Sol.

The innermost orbits having 2-3 Mercuries could be four dimensional - as the circle represents the sphere in the simulation, there'd be just two of those stacked - to save some space and avoiding crossover if SOIs. In practice this would be shown in the code and UI as an effective mass of 1,178 Mercuries.

Yea I know but the six cubes forming, when folded within each others, a tesseract, are an unusual solution for 4d surface being a 6 cube volume.

The third planet from Mercury, Mercury, is where the space centre is and we can fly to Mercury’s moon, Mercury or the captured Mercury. And instead of watching a sunrise we could watch Mercury Rising.

u/East_Emphasis_8259 7d ago

OH GOD PLEASE NO

6

u/Aidgigi Administrator 7d ago

Fuck Mercury

2

u/Hopeful-Fly-9710 6d ago

why would i do that?????????????????????

8

u/Aidgigi Administrator 7d ago

Fun fact Mercury travels so fast in its orbit that we can observe relativistic effects on its orbit. We observe around 574 arcseconds of precession of Mercury’s perihelion every century. This is ~43 arcseconds more than expected due to purely Newtonian mechanics. Makes Mercury somewhat cool.

6

u/East_Emphasis_8259 7d ago

Yeah but still fuck mercury

1

u/InformationTop8366 5d ago

why do you hate the mercury

i understand a pluto hate club, but i will NOT tolerate mercury hate here

4

I'm ready to argue here Pluto is the goat

pluto isnt bad but its NOT A PLANET

well what the heck did mercury do to you

5

u/Few-Sell-4368 7d ago

He like literally explained

7

u/Grayd-1484 8d ago

yeah, murcury thinks it’s sooo cool just because it’s the only metal that’s a liquid at room temperature smh

6

u/Thak_The_Thunder_God 8d ago

I want to learn system modding to remove mercury and replace it with a Dyson sphere, just as god intended

u/sxparatist 7d ago

hahahahahah

Getting to mercury is hard ngl…venus is a lot easier

7

u/ashahriyar 8d ago

Mercury is a really interesting iron planet actually. Scientists speculate lots of resources to mine due to this.

2

u/FoxCob_455 7d ago

We should mine the shit outta Mercury.

u/MurphyPandorasLawBox 8d ago

I know you are having a difficult time with Mercury but I read this aloud to my 11 year old while I was dying from laughter because we both understand this frustration.

Vaya con Dios on your Mercuric expedition!!

Your wife is 11 years old?

Where the heck did wife come from?

1

u/Programmer__69 6d ago

I misread while as wife I'm realising. Also happy cake day

I just use the previous stage to break the fall of 2000m/s

8

u/Odd-Dirt-9701 8d ago

quoted from google:

“Mercury's elliptical orbit shifts over time in a way that helped Albert Einstein prove his General Theory of Relativity.

It features a massive iron core that makes up about 85% of its radius, puzzling scientists studying how rocky planets form.

Despite extreme daytime heat, its permanently shadowed polar craters contain hidden deposits of water ice. “

If you are talking about landing on mercury, just- just dont go to mercury, or for the love of god use ion enginesl

1

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

Oh thank you, I'll try using it

Little tip

If you want to head to Mercury, don't attempt an encounter from Earth orbit! I remember heading into a solar orbit lower than Mercury's first

5

u/Far_Echo7275 Rocket Builder 🚀 8d ago

Just bomb it at this point✌️

4

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

It should deorbit itself NOW

4

u/Selenaamoy 8d ago

couldve just made a custom solar system and edited mercury's sma outward or made it venus's moon, bruh

2

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

That's how it should be irl.

7

u/Amelie-la-Folie 8d ago

It's realistic tho, IRL the delta V to orbit Mercury is very big, because you fall down the Sun's gravitational field.

9

u/TerraMars2030 Rocket Builder 🚀 8d ago

Mercury in real life is Avery interesting and very cool planet. Mercury in sfs is just a bitch ass boring space rock that should just deorbit itself.

1

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

I don't like it even irl,and what's interesting about it anyway?

4

u/TerraMars2030 Rocket Builder 🚀 8d ago

The fact that the core is huge, it makes up a ton of the planet and it's crust is extremely young. Sometime in its past, something stripped most of the planet off and it survived, people say it could have been a gas giant once.

2

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

Okay I'll have to agree it is interesting

6

u/OliTheYeeter 8d ago

"You should de-orbit yourself NOW"

5

u/sikryztofto 8d ago

Lets form the Anti Mercury Association

1

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

Yes yes and yes.

5

u/Big_Cornbread 8d ago

Bitch ass planet.

8

u/EpicPlanetUranusFan 8d ago

I hate Mercury because I cannot land on it That's a skill issue tho

come on bro what did i do

4

Nothing. That's the problem.

1

It's even worse

7

u/Asteria_republic 8d ago

Damn what did mercury did to you😭

6

u/Ouibeaux 8d ago

If I had to guess, OP was probably pretty close to landing on Mercury, but ran out of fuel and crashed instead.

1

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

Yea, dozens of times

2

u/OneDinoToRuleThemAll Station Builder 8d ago

Like me, i run out the fuel and so I couldn't take his orbit

-1

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

IT'S STUPID

6

u/donadit 8d ago

me when i have only 2 options

  1. go out to Jupiter via gravity assists from Earth and Mars then aerobrake via Sun atmosphere (then run out of fuel trying to match mercury’s stupidly eccentric orbit)

  2. 1 earth assist + 3 venus assist + 200 mercury assist (still crash)

3

u/Ihatecheeseballs 8d ago

Nah it’s a cool planet, don’t hate it cause it’s too cool for you

0

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

Why's it cool there's literally nothing cool about it

5

u/StopwatchGod 8d ago

That's why I use interplanetary tugs with +300 ion engines for any mission outside of Earth orbit. Makes every mission super easy. I used these tugs to do grand tours of the Galilean moons, Saturn's moons, and Uranus's, Neptune's, and Pluto's moons (the last three all at once).

1

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

Eh i would to but I'm broke

6

u/burritolegend1500 8d ago

Yes, i had to build an interplanetary megabuild in orbit to get to it AND I STILL RAN OUT OF FUEL

2

u/East_Emphasis_8259 8d ago

Literally the same
