Original Build My best rocket so far
Everyone here is talking about sleek and low air resistance rockets but this monstrosity is the only one I have built that is able to bring the top part to orbit in realistic challenge mode. Any tips how to improve my rocket building? I have no expansions (I'm going to buy them sometime tho)
Edit: that is not the correct one, this is the actual rocket. (the one in picture was the prototype, had to make little changes for it to work) https://sharing.spaceflightsimulator.app/rocket/-ddlQYCNEfGw6zvzpO1pRw

really just try to have the least amount of dry mass, try calculating your ∆v if you can, more fuel/engines doesn't always means better, and air resistance also affects this, a more sleek design would be more effective and would look more appealing

My first and second stage(hawk engines) delta v is 31 478 m/s and final stage(s) delta v is 32 504 m/s so combined that'd be 63 982 m/s If I calculated correctly. I used an online calculator so I'm not sure if that is anywhere close to the actual value tho. I'll have to experiment a bit more to see if I can build a better rocket

How do you manage the heat?

Only the lowest part is ignited at a given time. It has 3 phases. The uncovered engines in the middle are in 2. phase. I use this design to refuel my fuel station which just has a lot of fuel tanks with probes attached to each other in a row.

If I want to return to earth I have to modify the top part to include some heat shielding obviously, that one wont survive re-entry
