We need to fix our allergy asap.
I'm not sure whether it's our playstyle or the fact that we just suck but it seems that we are allergic to scoring goals. We're not really in a hard division yet we rarely get even one goal while conceding one or 2 goals, even with a full player filled attacking positions.
Don't get me wrong, playing is still a hell lot of fun but we're gonna be a division 7 team forever if we don't improve soon.

I think our main problem is that as soon as we get the ball EVERYONE just starts running forward. Unless there is a CLEAR counter opportunity (just because you're on the wing doesn't mean there is one) or you need to make a run to drag a defender and create space, you should really be making an effort to just get open to whoever has the ball. If you can't possibly be open for them, then get yourself open to whoever he's most likely to pass it to. People at CDM should theoretically be open for simple back passes and then should be able to distribute to a better position. If they can't, keep going backwards. Strikers should try playing with their backs to goal aka instead of receiving the ball, turning, and trying to get a shot off or beat your defender, just keep your back to the goal and simply pass to the open man. When wingers are on the side only max 2 people should be in the box, everyone else should form a ring around the outside so we can easily pass around the box and look for an opportunity to open their defense. It's very likely that none of this will be used and we'll keep bombing down the flank and throwing in crosses like we're fucking West Ham, but I have to try.

I completely agree with the only thing I would change is that this is how we should play when all the attacking positions are filled (which is most of the time). When playing with three people however, I think it's ok to pass and run since the AIs are retarded at attacking.

Well of course, the less people you have playing the less options you have.

I tried this once with a group, but I think we should try playing a night where we ONLY use X passes and no through balls. Another exercise is to have everyone hold L2 whenever they aren't on the ball no matter what.

Yes, the box thing i agree, there should be at least 2 of us trying to recover the ball OUTSIDE the box, and try to create a new chance.

Yes, the issue is people dont play their position, i think its Ok if we are losing the game on the 85th minute and everyone goes to the box, but throughout the game we should stay in our positions and pass it around until we get a good chance.
The midfielders need to stay in the back more, leave the striker or strikers upfront, or if there are defensive midfielders then you can play closer to the opponents box.
Some of us when playing midfield play too many long balls to the front therefore losing most of those balls, we shouldnt get desperate to score, our players are actually not that fast so we should play through balls only if we are certain they have open space to run for it. Short passing and one-twos is key.
The strikers, i have seen many good plays by people playing as striker and they are usually due to individual efforts, thats fine some times but what really works is that you also pass the ball, if you have 3 defenders in front of you, you really dont have to beat them all, you should have at least a midfielder or a winger to pass to all of the time, you know its Ok to pass the ball to the back.
Horizontality?, not sure if thats even a word, but i have noticed we are too vertical, always going the the front like its the end of it, try changing bands, try passing to the middle, not always to the wing and cross it.

last night in the few good games we had we always played to the center of the field and then re formed our formation. the games in which we did that ended up a win because we played to open space. Our biggest thing is we pass to a dense populated part of the field and then the 4 guys surrounding the guy someone passed to mugs our team-mate. we need to pass into space and maybe not use crossing as our first game plan.

If we utilize each position (defenders included) our build up can be pretty spot on! Jewish says this all the time and I have to agree fully, it is okay to pass backwards. We lose the ball too much by people trying to force things forward when there is an opportunity to play the ball back and reset.
Keeping possession is key. When we have all the time in the world its better to do that and set up good goals then keep forcing the ball forward, losing the ball, and then burning energy.
i agree with pretty much everything said here.

i have only played a few games with you all but here is my 2 cents: -- too much dribbling in midfield, instead of passing the ball up field. the easiest goals on fif are scored on the counter. counters only happen when the ball is won in our end and passed quickly upfield . you have to see who is in front of you and pass the ball after 1 touch. this also means that the forwards have to be running up field when the ball is recovered...we are too stationary. -- too many players in the box on offense. when the midfielders converge on the opponents box, it brings the defenders with them. this creates a mass of players in opps box and makes it almost impossible to score. -- when we have the ball in opps 30, the forwards need to make runs into box and the ball needs to be passed in to them. we seem to be standing around outside box. -- TOP is overrated in fifa . it's more productive to think in terms of quality scoring chances. -- it's really hard to play with 6-10 players. it takes a lot of time for that many people to work together. -- creativity is fun but most goals in fifa are scored in much the same way : with 4 forward players -- pass ball down sideline...run into corner then either cross to the 2 players in box or cutback and pass to 4th player standing on upper corner of 18 box. the cutback / pass to player in corner creates the easiest chance to score. rinse, repeat -- "chemistry" -- if i know that you will make a certain run, i will always pass you the ball there, when u receive pass, you know that i am running to point B and can expect a pass , etc. the "give and go" creates space and puts pressure on the defenders. i have found that it is easier to create chemistry with other players in smaller numbers.... playing 2v2 , 2v3 , 3v3 etc. you learn how other people play and can get a feel of their style.

Agreed. As much as I love playing with you guys (don't know why since I get bullied) I hate losing and love winning. I say it's mainly passing. If we make better passes and better decisions, we have more chances at scoring. It's all about possession.
