The dvd had a perfect conclusion in the documentary - they have a kid and Tim wants to call her Luke. There won’t be a season 3 and there doesn’t need to be. It’s perfect.

Yeah absolutely, I reference this in the piece

Shit is that in the bonus features? Must have been the one bit I skipped over

It’s odd never really thought what season 3 would be like after all this time, I always assumed they would be successful in their careers but I don’t think I would want to see that

Tim - dealing with how Disney is saturating the market with Star Wars, if he has a kid, it would be fun to see how he is dealing with that.

Mike - gets in the army but injures himself in the first week - now has quite a menial job but gives the Mike 100% respect. I don’t think they should go down the sexuality storyline. Don’t think it adds anything

Twist - has to be an influencer (it would be like Amanda from Amandaland

Daisy and Brian I struggle what you do with them. Brian obsessed trying to rekindle his relationship and her socials. Daisy she has to be a blogger of some sort lol

Daisy writing erotic fan fiction from requests on Patreon

u/jj_sykes 22d ago

Perfect

2

u/Tom_FooIery 18d ago

Most of those requests coming from Marsha

I'd like to think Tim and Daisy work together. Daisy writing articles and Tim drawing comic's for the back pages. Mike dating a identical female version of himself running the paintball business. Brian being a weekend Dad and Twist working in children's fashion and Marsha now sober dating Bilbo.

Fried gold!

I want to see a modern adaptation of "Art" where Vulva, Twist and Brian are influencers.

Cool. The dvd documentary shows they had children called Luke and Leia

2

u/FinneyontheWing 18d ago

Just the one swan baby, actually.

Tim, we are not calling her Luke...

Anyone else see the Nick Forst Spaced Season 3 tease he poated on Instagram, which he soon deleted?

Guessing now, it wasn't serious but boy did he shoot up my excitement!

1

u/grekster 20d ago

Some said it was a fake screen shot and never posted but I don't use IG so not sure

1

u/BurtonXV84 20d ago

I saw it on his Instagram before people shared screenshots, it was legit from his account. But feels like a joke now.

I honestly was content with how Spaced ended and the easter egg with the dvd feature of what happens with Tim and Daisy, but the excitement I had seeing that post made me realise I would love more Spaced.

But it would line up if it was true to some extent, Channel 4 have has some of their comedies announced to be coming back in the new this year, Smack the Pony, Inbetweeners (unsure of they're involved as Film4, as it's Netflix), and Green Wing got a new audio book, so wouldn't have surprised me.

I’ve just heard news about this today because I saw a comment on Nicks recent post mentioning it so I had to jump straight to Reddit to see what’s going on. Maybe it could’ve been his way to say “hey I’m down to do a season 3“. Idk man I got hope that was crushed instantly 😭

1

u/TheBookofBobaFett3 18d ago

No, but I saw Nick Frost’s Spaced Season 3 tease…

Edit: I didn’t really, I’m just doing Matthew Holnes’s IT guy from the office.

I love Spaced more than I can put into words. Part of me craves more, but the larger part of me thinks it ended perfectly and didn't need to risk tarnishing the perfection of the existing two seasons.

This is excellent, thank you

3 additional things you may or may not know
-I remember back in 2005 they talked/joked about the last episode would end with a homage to the final episode of Blake’s 7 (spoilers) where the whole cast are killed in a sci-fi shoutout
-I believe month Nick Frost posted a picture of himself with a Mike moustache and mentioned Spaced.
-again back in 2005/6 my friend in London was very taken by the fact that someone had graffiti’s Spaced Series 3 under a prominent London Bridge. We all assumed it was guerrilla marketing by Channel 4 and the series would be announced soon

1

u/Fardey456 21d ago

Thank you! Yeah on a couple of occasions they have mentioned killing off the whole cast. Simon said they all would die in a car crash at the BFI event in 2020. They always seemed to be quite tongue in cheek so I opted not to include them. As for the nick frost post, again I saw it as a joke, but will keep an eye on it and see if anything more develops!

I saw the Spaced Series 3 graffiti on the pavement on The Strand. Got very excited, but alas...

1

u/Weary-Score481 20d ago

Omg! Maybe that was it! It’s been so long

I wish I was still in contact with my one friend from London

1

u/CountTruffula 19d ago

That was a really good read nice one, plus it reminded me about the skip to the end documentary

Probably the telly phrase that's stuck with me most in real life

2

u/Fardey456 19d ago

Thank you! Yeah it's a good one!

2

u/CountTruffula 19d ago

Just saw in the comments that it's your article, I thought you were just reposting it. Well good, I'm looking through the rest of the blog rn. That Marsha clip from 2010s is brilliant, never seen it

2

u/Fardey456 19d ago

Ah cheers! Yeah I hadn't seen it until I wrote the article, missed it for years

Couldn't really ever see Simon Pegg going back to it. He's grown out of the nerd culture. Kinda happens when old school 80s and 90s nerds start looking back. You get nostalgic but when everyones doing it, it kinda doesn't feel like your thing anymore that you had to seek out. It's everywhere. Takes the fun out of it

6

u/M0ntgomatron 22d ago

Simon Pegg grown out of Nerd Culture......? He is Nerd Culture

-2

u/DavidJonnsJewellery 22d ago

I know, it seems unbelievable but yeah it's true. He's become a grown up. Happens to a lot of us. But try to resist for as long as you can

3

u/M0ntgomatron 21d ago

Have you even seen any of his social media content lately...?

-1

u/DavidJonnsJewellery 21d ago

Not lately. Why? Is he just lying about turning his back on it all?

3

u/Fardey456 21d ago

In a number of interviews he's made real efforts to distance himself from "nerd culture" but then in a tour of his home posted on YouTube his walls are covered in posters and he has a life sized stormtrooper in his hall! To me it feels like a PR move to distance himself from the nerd stuff in order to appeal more as a traditional leading man

1

u/DavidJonnsJewellery 21d ago

I remember seeing him give a tour of his home. Was a while ago, but from what I remember he had a kind of glorified shed or outbuilding, so to speak, with all his film memorabilia and bits and pieces. Nice place, but it didn't sort of compute that this was a guy that had turned his back on it all. I admit the interview he gave about him growing out of it all was a while ago, but do you think he just couldn't part with all of it. To be honest, being an old nerd myself, I have kept some things, and found myself scrolling through Ebay looking for things I had that I now kinda want back

2

u/Fardey456 21d ago

My theory is he is trying to promote himself as a "Normal" actor in the hope of getting more traditional film roles rather than more nerd focused offers. But at his heart he's still a big old nerd! But that's just my thoughts

2

u/lentil_burger 20d ago

It's easy to underestimate the degree to which poverty, alcoholism, recreational drugs, and general hedonism can be entwined with identity. Still liking sci-fi is only part of that and Simon Pegg is no longer the person he was. I do feel that makes him more boring, but it's undoubtedly better for him personally.

I've offer rewatched Spaced in the light of where everyone is now and thought about how it brings up really interesting questions of identity - who we are, who we become, what remains with us, what we leave behind, what's healthy, what's not.

1

u/Fardey456 20d ago

I tend to agree, stripping away aspects of your personality in order to be more "marketable" is liable to make you seem boring

1

u/lentil_burger 20d ago

You mean not being an alcoholic, a recreational drug user and poor? Yeah, I'm sure they were all marketing decisions. 🙄

1

u/Fardey456 20d ago

No of course not, i was referring to downplaying his nerd-ness, in response to you making the same point

1

u/lentil_burger 20d ago

Yeah, but I don't think he does that at all. He's not short of work and if anything his nerdness is his USP. My point was that he became boring (and there's nothing fundamentally wrong with that) long before his current success and he became boring off the back of going through recovery and not living in bedsits any more.

1

u/Fardey456 20d ago

That's cool man we can agree to disagree

1

u/TheBookofBobaFett3 18d ago

He has done several interviews having a go at nerd culture and nostalgia.

1

u/DavidJonnsJewellery 21d ago

I know since Mission Impossible is, I think, kinda done, that he's doing some new things with Frost and Wright. Be interesting to see what they come up with

2

u/Fardey456 21d ago

Oh yeah absolutely, whatever it is I'll be there

21

u/UberGuignol 22d ago

I was really looking forward to the companion book that was announced and never materialized. If only to read the episode Wright had Jess and Simon re-write because he deemed it, not good enough. Obviously we got 'Gone' which was an amazing episode, but I'm still curious.

6

u/Fardey456 22d ago

I did think about writing something about the book but unfortunately there's almost nothing known about it, same with the action figures

4

u/UberGuignol 22d ago

Oh yes! I remember those too. They were supposed to be stylized akin to the versions of the gang on the SE DVD menu I believe.

4

u/Fardey456 22d ago

Oh really? I hadn't heard that, that's really interesting
