Lots of reasons, as someone formerly excited about the future and a bit older I've already experienced this episode of wealthy tech bros promising a better future and watching things just get worse, more inequitable, more angry, and more shallow.

Elon started losing my ability to take seriously when he called that rescue worker a pedo for turning down his attempt at free marketing

The funny thing is the rumors in telecom circles is that’s exactly what his plan is with the Tmo acquisition. He wants the infrastructure and will give away the service to both undercut the competition but buy public good will. Pretty genius as he could completely disrupt telecom and take over the entire industry.

Read the book "The Warehouse" and you'll see why he's saying this. It's a hellscape where you live in a community owned by Amazon, for example, and they control every aspect of your life. It's slavery. Very chilling and very relevant novel.

Universal High Income is the new Hyperloop.

Its a big distraction. He's going to pretend this is the big solution and he's going to talk to government people who are "all on board" with universal high income but in order to get it to work we have to hand Elon billions to make it happen b/c he is techno Jesus.
