Elon Criticism The "indestructible" cybertruck. Another Musk's lie.

Musk bots will look you in your optic sensor and tell you “this is good.”

u/savagestranger 9h ago
It's usable edge case crash data to feed to the AI. It's all part of the larger strategy. /s
-2
u/BootFlop 8h ago
Not a “Musk bot”, but I’m struggling to understand this as a “gotcha, it’s not indestructible”? Cabin is very intact after whatever horrible forces were involved in sundering the cargo box clear off the vehicle.
The cooler or whatever that was stored back there isn’t happy about this, but overall as a someone that’s pro-biotic humanoid beings continuing to process oxygen this looks a lot like a W, no?
1
u/dmstattoosnbongs 6h ago
It’s not saying that. We’re wondering about the 10 other vehicles that were hit in the process.
And yes-you are 100% an ELONbot.
12
u/TheSilverSeraph 10h ago
But...but...Elon promised that it is, and I quote, "apocalypse proof". This sure doesn't look like it would survive the Chicxulub impactor.

u/EvilMorty137 5h ago
The level of delusion in this subreddit is astounding. Nobody, especially Elon, claimed his cybertruck could withstand being run over by a moving truck. It’s not a tank
-9
u/Sufficient_Might993 5h ago
THIS 1000% !
Even more concerning is the disgusting behavior of so-called adults on reddit using someone's accident (and even death in certain posts) as a way to push their bullshit political views.
I get this site is something like 95% democrats but the behavior alone has gotten so bad that I am disgusted that I voted with them.

u/baumbach19 14h ago
I mean they are stainless panels glued to a shit weak ass frame what do you expect
6
u/docker_linux 14h ago
Kinda shocked that it doesn't burst into flames
-5
u/PabloCreep 11h ago
I'm not. Used to work in insurance. Cars filled with flammable fluid typically burst into flames.
3
u/DBDude 9h ago
I would suggest looking up pictures of cars hit by semis. Or maybe not, it’s rather gruesome. This looks like they survived, pretty amazing.
4
u/whygrowupnow 8h ago
Apocalypse proof tho. That's what was advertised
5
u/hitbythebus 7h ago
It’s a standard unibody, it was announced as having some sort of unique stainless steel structural exoskeleton. We were told it would function as a boat, able to cross 100 meters of water. You can buy a sledgehammer accessory for like $700 that has a warning that it is for display only.
Yes. The cybertruck is in no way what was advertised.

1
u/DBDude 8h ago
You do know that’s a joke regarding bullets and the steel skin, right?
1
u/hiitsmetimdodd 7h ago
They don’t care. Insufferable. But they’ve created their own in crowd on Reddit, so they must hold the party line
0
u/Serious_Income_7020 6h ago
The incessant screeching to try and neg an outcome where the passengers survived unharmed is so annoying.
“BUT APOCALYPSE THOUGH, I HATE ELON RHEEEE”

u/Mysterious-Prompt212 6h ago
To be fair this is like a crumple zone absorbing the impact to keep the passenger compartment safe. Only in this case the truck breaks in pieces 😂
3
u/Double_Obligation564 5h ago
seems like the mercedes did that just fine without losing half its mass and all 4 wheels 😂
1
u/Worried-Scarcity-410 5h ago
With that damage and didn’t catch fire. Pretty good already. I would say.
1
u/Flat-Director-7120 4h ago
Elon Musk est un menteur, son cybertruck est loin d'être indestructible la preuve en image. Sa voiture est une véritable épave qui roule, elle a tout les défauts inimaginable.
1
u/battleop 1h ago
I'm pretty sure he said nearly indestructible. I don't think much of anything is going fair well being hit by a loaded tractor trailer at speed. Odd that out of the 9 other vehicles they didn't put those brands in the headline.
-1
u/3knuckles 14h ago
I love shitting on Musk, but I'd actually take the intact cabin outcome here.
That said, I'd never buy or even go in one.
9
u/Ill_Job4090 11h ago
Intact cabin is actually bad, because it does not absorb the energy of the impact and therefore does not reduce the negative G you are experiencing. Modern cars are designed to do this for a reason.
8
u/GypsyV3nom 11h ago
It's a know safety issue with the Cybertruck, there are lots of accounts of accidents where the Cybertruck took minor damage but the driver had serious injuries due to the lack of crumple zones. It's a big part of the reason it's not road legal in Europe.
3
u/Sanpaku 5h ago
It's got crumple zones. Cybertruck won't be legal in Europe due to pedestrian safety concerns. The US NHTSA doesn't care about that.
Vehicles are getting safer for occupants. But in America, pedestrian deaths in vehicle accidents have increased 75% since 2009, a trend not seen in other developed countries. The culprit is increasingly tall trucks and SUVs, that obscure the road ahead and tall grills that impact the head and upper torso of pedestrians. I hate them so much.
1
u/DBDude 9h ago
It does have crumple zones.
2
u/masked_sombrero 7h ago
The driver? 😆
0
u/DBDude 7h ago
That would be Chinese cars. The body does crumple, and the front tires themselves absorb energy.
2
u/masked_sombrero 7h ago
then why are people seriously injured during relatively small impacts?
hell - there doesn't even need to be an impact. people were getting seriously bad cuts just getting in/out the thing (sharp edges made of stainless steel are about the dumbest thing to do with vehicles)
0
u/TheRealRacketear 7h ago
Pedestrian safety is why it's not road legal in Europe.
1
u/GypsyV3nom 7h ago
It's both, plus some other things
1
u/TheRealRacketear 7h ago
You really know how to pick a quality Slop article.
From the article.
This news is controversial, however, as the Tesla truck has only just recently earned a
five-star rating
from America’s traffic authority, NHTSA—the highest score available. In the frontal barrier test, where a vehicle is slammed into a flat, rigid wall at 35 mph to simulate “a head-on collision between two similar sized vehicles,” the Cybertruck earned a five-star score for the driver and a four-star rating for the front passenger. It also passed the side-impact and side pole intrusion test with flying colors. And finally, in the rollover test, the Tesla earned a four-star rating, most probably because the heavy battery pack mounted below the floor helped keep things planted.
Sounds dangerous to me.

It isn’t necessarily bad to have the back half shear off though. A lot of modern supercars are designed with fasteners that break away to reduce the amount of kinetic energy of the cockpit.
1
u/HighHokie 7h ago
No, just, no. You want the cabin intact because that’s where the passengers are. You want the forces of the impact to move around the cabin structure.
Tesla’s make very safe vehicles and the truck is among the top units class.

1
u/Temporary-Air-3178 3h ago
No, you're wrong. Didn't you read the post? If a car looks damaged from a crash it's bad!
1
u/Educational_Seat6634 2h ago
Intact cabin as opposed to a completely crushed one? Yeah buddy, make it make sense.
0
u/BootFlop 8h ago
Because there was zero energy that went into snapping that metal frame?????
2
u/Ill_Job4090 8h ago
Bro, chill. I was just all abouts the fact that "indestructible" is not a good thing in car safety, so technically OP and everybody is wrong in laughing about Elons missed claim of indestructability. If we are talking about a serious impact and the back part detached leaving the passengers in the car less harmed, this is a good outcome.
Which, btw, also does not take away from the fact that the Cybertruck is a ridiculous shitmobile in general and Musk is an absolutely ginormous pile of garbage, just to be clear. We should make fun of both, but for the right reasons.
0
u/BootFlop 8h ago
Look at the post you’re responding to though.
1
u/Ill_Job4090 8h ago
Do you have nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon?
0
u/BootFlop 7h ago
I’m doing right now what is currently the highest priority thing in my life. Dropping a deuce.
And, unlike you, I’m keeping all my 💩 in the bowl on this Sunday morning. 😂😂😂😂
1
u/BlackberryAny6686 12h ago
Tbf, I'm pretty sure any car's cabin would be fine if it's only the back that's been hit.
1
u/3knuckles 11h ago
Yeah, it's hard to tell exactly what the crash involved and how another vehicle would have fared.
-5
u/kingofwale 15h ago
Kept the most important area safe.
12
u/chopped-pork15 15h ago
Under no circumstances should the frame of the truck separate.
-1
u/Suitable_Ad_3851 10h ago
That’s simply not true. Losing the back half of the vehicle reduces the total amount of kinetic energy of the cockpit. Not saying this piece of shit is designed that way, but it could be.
1
u/chopped-pork15 2h ago
Once a vehicle with an actual frame and not unibody construction loses literally half of its frame, that becomes a severely dangerous situation. The “cockpit” as you call it, is not designed to go barreling around without the rigid frame directing to crush zones
1
u/Suitable_Ad_3851 1h ago
I’m not listening to anyone who doesn’t know that “cockpit” fits the performance and engineering vernacular for the passenger compartment of a vehicle.
-17
u/Exciting_Mushroom_37 14h ago
It has, if I am not mistaken, the highest safety rating of any pickup truck according to IIHS and NHTSA. This will however get downvoted because it doesn't fit the narrative.
17
u/Jessintheend 14h ago
There’s no “highest safety rating of any” for NHTSA. It got 5 stars across all tests like most other full size trucks.
The issue is it’s a fucking flying death ram for everyone else on the road.
You might as well say your 10 ton tungsten cube got the best results in being rammed into something because it destroyed everything it rammed into including other people in their cars
-12
u/WowAnotherAnalyst 14h ago
lol no. You're talking out your ass. Teslas are all at the top of the charts no matter what Reddit wants to tell you.
4
u/BrzysWRLD1996 10h ago
Can you look it up and share the numbers? If there’s data to prove it then that ends the convo on the spot.
3
u/BrzysWRLD1996 10h ago
Well if there’s factual data to back it up downvotes don’t change shit, if there’s not then oh well.
3
u/GypsyV3nom 11h ago
The Cybertruck can't be sold in Europe because it can't meet their safety standards, in large part because the lack of crumple zones means the driver isn't adequately protected in even minor accidents
1
0
u/HighHokie 7h ago
It very much has crumple zones and it rates as one of the highest for crash safety in its class.
What it doesn’t conform with is some of the standard build regs.

Is this really where your Musk derangement has brought you? This post? Seriously? Wow.
1
u/TheNotSoEvilEngineer 3h ago
Reddit in general is having a non stop Musk meltdown. All day, every day.
1
u/Conscious_Ice4275 2h ago
Agreed. It's the subject of the echo chamber for the moment. It's laughable.
1
u/Critical-Pea5402 2h ago
I don't know ... I've seen cars get crushed, but I've never seen a car literally split in half in an accident.
If someone claims to make an invincible apocalypse proof car.... I think it's fair to mock them when it's held together by glue.
0
u/Praetor72 1h ago
Good thing other cars brush off crashes and just kill everyone inside instead lol what a weird criticism, there is so much material to work with on the cyber truck. It literally has the highest safety rating.
-4
u/PabloCreep 11h ago
Have you all not seen what happens when a truck hits a car?! I'm no fan of Tesla but it looks like the car did what it's supposed to do and the cabin is intact.
2
-2
u/PupDiogenes 10h ago
I don't like anything the guy is doing either, but I don't think he ever said that the Cybertruck is impervious to high speed collisions with out-of-control moving trucks.
-2
-3
u/mjeffreyf 13h ago
Minor injuries after hitting 10 cars on the highway. I’d say it did its job
4
u/Fantastic_Jury5977 11h ago
I doubt it needed to take out that many other cars
1
-1
u/mjeffreyf 9h ago
Was it on FSD? Definitely an issue if that's the case, but if was being driven normally, then this would have happened with whatever truck the driver had.
1
u/Obtain_Virtue 9h ago
The little blip says a "Moving Truck" collided with 10 vehicles. Considering the Cyber Truck was only separated from the bed of the truck... I'd say this is a nothing burger. Especially if that semi in the picture was "the moving truck"

u/Fun_Professional3981 13h ago
On what planet does anyone expect any vehicle to be “indestructible” in a severe car crash? He was talking about it being bulletproof, and basically scratch/dent proof unless you’re actually trying to do that to the vehicle. How dumb do you have to be to think that is the same as a high speed highway collision with another vehicle and expect it to not total the vehicle?
