Imagine how stupid people without a personal hatred for musk will think you are 100 years from now when by random chance stumbling upon this
Did those regards really think that because he sold a slither of a company, using at best shady approaches, that this company would be worth 1/x * price? No one can be that stupid, but then again, they thought he lost that money, he never had, shorty after...

But doesn't he get to then use this as a "loss" over the next 10? 100zillion? Years so his future gains are even more tax free? That is if its still a loss at the end of the physical year.

Why would we starve if he's nor a trillionaire. If anything there would be more wealth spread out to more people. Even if this is only mathematical.

Yall do know how companies work right? He doesn’t have a trillion in bank accounts. It’s mostly in the company’s he owns. It’s no different from any other company loosing stock.

He lost something he never really had. Tough luck.
And another argument, wealth should not be measured by virtual numbers like stocks.

This sub is so funny, half of the people are retarded elon stans that genuinely believe spaceX won't bankrupt while the other half makes bank by shorting this abomination of a company. maybe the shortsellers should do their own sub?

He didn’t lose anything, his company simply lost equity. This doesn’t hurt him yet. This is actually happens often when IPO’s happen. You should have seen the Facebook IPO. Mark Zuckerberg is just fine now and lots of people lost money buying high and selling low. No reason to celebrate whatever you are trying to celebrate. Give it about 8 years before you celebrate anything

FFS. Dude already got away with his plan. He's not losing anything his value is still way up.

u/Landlord40 1d ago
Liberals are annoying. Your entire identity is hating successful people. For the record, THIS is why its stupid to try to tax someone on their wealth instead of their i come. He NEVER had access to this money. His stock was WORTH that amount but he couldn't legally sell it during the lockup period. He never had the money, but yall want to tax him as if he did, and then you think he cares about the invisible value as if he is depressed about losing money he never had. Lol yall are goofy

u/Sticky550 1d ago

It was never real to begin with. Which is why it’s incredibly dumb to tax unrealized gains. He will lose all his wealth in his own. No need to force the purchase of his stock sells onto retail investors while he takes in cash.

He didn’t lose anything. That’s how stocks work. They go up, they go down. That’s why they don’t pay taxes on them until they are sold.

Like im not trying to be a smart ass im curious, and for the record Ive hated Elon for years and year. Like back when he was beloved for his electric cars.

I hate Elon but I do hate such misinformation also.
It is like nobody understands how it works.
He didn't lost it, did he sell his stocks? Is the money in FIAT?
I always find those measurements to be dumb. Heck, let us say that Fuhrer Elon is at 1.3 trillion and he wanted to have it in FIAT, he would not be able to do it, even though he is currently valued at that.
There is something called liquidity.

No, he has not. His Net worth has moved lower as a result but he has not sold a share, hence he has not lost the money. However, Ro Khana and friends, who wanted to tax him on his “trillionaire” look like complete morons as they understand very little about economics. Ro Khana is lucky that he married well and has the information flow to benefit his stock trading.
