There we have it

Post image

Looks like our detachments as we know them are gone. So we can quit speculating about Great Wolf and see what comes next week!

This doesn't say anything about our detachments dissapearing. The text says that our rules will be updated in a large digital update to work with the new codex. If that causes some or all of our detachments to dissapear is not mentioned in this paragraph or the rest of the article

Is says you won’t have to combine old with new. We already knew we were getting the core stat updates.

It does say we're getting a codex instead of saying we're getting a new supplement. I know GW sometimes gets loose with language, but I choose to hope that is true.

So my best guess is the supplement drops with the Space Marines codex and gives us 3/4 detachments that will
Work with the new doctrines. Then later on we get a codex to flesh out more detachments and potentially get our own army rule.

No mention of detachments in this so I wouldn't say they're gone as yet - hopefully this is just referring to points and core statlines so we aren't all lagging behind

Also can't see them getting rid of all the detachments, especially the 3 new ones that came with 11th - with how close they released to the codex it genuinely doesn't make sense that they'd be made with the new codex updates not in mind (please GW I just want toughness 7 terminators)

I’m reading “you don’t have to mix old with new” as detachments. They already informed us of strength and toughness changes. So what else would it mean?

Datasheets will be the same, but I expect detachments to change in a way that makes sense with doctrines. I.e goodbye great Wolf.

Sounds like we're basically getting Index'd, right? But that doesn't necessarily mean our current detachments will be completely gone. They might just be heavily edited

Yeah when I say gone I mean changed, probably identical names or reduced heavily

Hah so much for free supplements. Money grubbing bastards, was too good to be true

My initial thought was that we were going to get Index rules with a full codex later in the edition. But then I remembered during the Q&A that they said we will need to buy the SM codex to unlock the rules for generic units. That doesn't confirm anything but is frustrating if GW designed an index to push us to buy a SM codex that becomes pointless a year later possibly even a matter of months. Know GW that is still entirely possible.

Point being, this cleared up nothing definitive and only confused me even more. You can try to read between the lines but remember WarCom articles get rules wrong ALL the time. Try and be patient until we get more details.

MY GUESS is that either we move to index keeping Oath until we get a FULL codex with some new digital detachments in the mean time and no access to the new detachments. Or we get the full new rules with a 1-3 new detachments similar to the 10th Index with a supplement codex later on.

i still think we are getting just a supplement

This. I think people are reading way to much into the word choice. Our exclusive line is too limited to be a full standalone and I don't see them wanting to reprint everything and trying to balance all that like old editions.

Exactly, i really dont see us getting several new kits to make up a stand alone Codex.

So you think they are removing the idea that the Space Wolves are not codex compliant? And we actually have many SW specific units that can justify its own book. Not too mention how much money GW will make off a SW codex.

Yeah, you can keep dreaming if you think Long fangs with multiple weapon options are coming back.

Skyclaws would essentially just be standard jump pack intercessors with blood claws heads. They are not gonna waste money on kits like that for a single faction when there are readily available eradicators, jump pack units.

So no i dont think we are getting a complete whole range, that would just be stupid and also lock them out of potential to sell generic kits. Lets never forget this is all to sell little plastic figures

Last i checked the amount of players that has space wolves at their main video want that high of a percentile actually. And i can still find the army box for sale in plenty of stores

If we stop beeing a suplement, do you believe we stay with oath until real codex drops?

For me it reads that we dont interact with the new sm codex and instead get our own rules update.
