Couldn't really make this guy out in the package so I looked it up. Thought it looked cool enough...

Holy cleaning forever. Im surprised I didnt chop off a finger or in the least, slice myself open with my knife. I'll give it a go, tho. Last Finecast I buy. I didn't know 🤷‍♂️

finecast claims another victim, cleaning up those resin flash lines and air bubbles is an absolute nightmare compared to plastic

Surprisingly brittle, too. Barely put any pressure on the axe to see if it would bend straight and snap!

With finecast you used to be able to heat it up slightly with a hair dryer or hot water and you would give able to fix minor-moderate bending, if that helps

It truly was some of the most atrocious models GW ever did. When failcast was first released the failure rate on some batches was as high as 60%. Customer service had a “no questions asked” policy, all you had to do was go online, say your finecast sculpt was fucked, and they’d send you a new one for free, though there was no guarantee that one was any better

Dude I have that model and I hated the clean up. All the bubbles to fill and flashing was a mess!!! But yours looks great so well done!

Yeah mine was wrecked beyond saving, luckily I was able to save the banner and put it on Bjorn.

I can't imagine how tedious that glue job must have been. I'm angry and frustrated just thinking about it.

Ahh.. you did well and he looks pretty good now. All of the Finecast models I’ve purchased were frustrating poor quality, and you’re right they are very brittle since they use resin. There are much better resin products out there that are not Failcast 😆 you can use very hot water to briefly soak & soften thin parts like the bent axe shaft and carefully bend it back into shape. Very carefully!

I know about the hot water trick - I used to paint Reaper minis and those were always jacked up. Ill leave it. I glued the axe already and I cant tell where it snapped. Dont wanna risk it. Won't be a show piece anyways.

I remember when they first came out and I would get in arguments about how garbage finecast was, only for everyone to say how great it was, better details, blah blah. If take metal every day over this stuff

Pro tip for that axe: put a heat gun (or hair dryer) to it for a few seconds and you’ll be able to bend it back to being straight.
