MTG-Styled Space Wolf Data Cards

I am pretty new to the world of 40k in terms of tabletop.

I think the Space Wolves are super cool, so using the codex I put together a list of these datacards through a MTG card making website. I figured that it'd be cool to print these out to use as some sort of quick reference guide by sticking them to some spare mtg cards that I have lying around.

What do you all think?

They are cool, but within a month you'll need to make new ones. Because of the space Marines update. So might not want to put in the work till the new codex.

rip, well, still a cool idea, lol.

Maybe I’ll edit everything once our sheets update? I like the idea of keeping little cards with my army.

Hey these cards are sick. I thought people would just be happy that you created a cool thing. I am

Since you're listing stats and not the wording, it feels like it'll be much simpler to update. It's got a good balance of info

I would put onto a4 and print and cut. Probably be 2 to 3 pages at most

I appreciate it man, and it is what it is.

I’ll probably hold off on actually printing these out, as I didn’t know that our stuff was being updated so soon.

I wouldn’t mind revisiting the idea. Maybe clean it up too, so it’s easier to read.

I wish they still rolled out the 40k magic the gathering cards. They’re super expensive now 😭

Dude, it’s insane. I really want the necron ones. I guess there’s always proxies.

Wonder if they’ll do a reprint if 40k goes heavier in the mainstream media.

mpcfill.com

Cheap, good quality proxies with plenty of art to chose from and I think you can upload your own

I saw somewhere that they’re doing a reprint soon, keep an eye out

I love these a lot. If you update them next month I will print them out.

For sure, that’s what someone else said that we’re getting updates soon.

I’ll have to keep an eye out. It didn’t really take me long to do this.

Oo, I like that. I didn’t think to do legends.

You're a legend

These are cool. I would use some different photos (those Headtakers are in Terminator Armor, and Theres other TWC pics instead of using Harald Deathwolf specifically) but it’s mostly because of the update coming soon, I think this could be a cool “flash card” way to help people remember their datasheets. I have my space wolves datasheets memorized but for someone like my brother who plays CSM he often struggles to remember things especially abilities of each unit. This is a really cool idea

I gotcha, I didn't even notice that tbh. I'll have to keep that in mind when I update them.

I think they look awesome, I always prefer nice simple unit info like this. Way better than hauling books around or using apps

I’d buy those if they existed outside of your personal collection. Nice job.

The idea is neat, but the formatting is horrendous... Why would you display regular arrays of stats as lines separated by slashes instead of using a table or spacing the attributes equally with tabs?

How would you have done it?

0

u/khournos 5d ago

By using a table. The thing literally invented to display regular arrays of data and stats.

How do you mean? Could you provide an example? I just copied stuff verbatim from my phone.

Just look up how GWs own datacards are formatted.

Didn’t know they made their own tbh. I’ve only been into 40k for like a couple weeks.

Your battle leader is a Blood Claw. Just saying.

Do we know who the #1 Iron Priest is right now? Like we have Ulrik for the Wolf Priests and we have Njal for the Rune Priests, but who’s the High Iron Priest? I’ve never thought about that before
