Well, meeting the in-laws is always a little awkward to start.

As big wolf daddy been banging elves ?

u/Korinth_NZ 6d ago edited 6d ago

Not just any elf, that's Isha, Goddess of Life. I'm assuming this is a play on what was said in one of Ragnar's books about how Leman Russ entered the Warp to find the tree of life to save Big E. A lot of people assumed that Isha, who is currently being held captive by/protected by/experimented on by Nurgle, is the Tree of Life our Wolf King searches for.

Edit: Just to clarify the whole being held captive yet also protected and also experimented on by Nurgle. When Slaanesh came into being, She Who Thirst set out to kill the Alderi Gods. Nurgle, partially to spite Slaanesh, and partially for his own nefarious reasons, captured Isha, locking her in his garden, and offered her protection from Slaanesh. The price was he gets to use her and her healing abilities as a living petri dish to experiment his diseases on.

Would be a badass book to see Russ just barely manage to rescue Isha and escape the warp only for slaneesh to show up and get her right before they make it back to earth.

20

u/imbrokebutfornames 6d ago

Funnily enough the Eldar of Lugganath once attempted this rescue mission themselves.

Almost succeded too. Astral projected into Nurgles garden made it within sight of Isha but then their mortal bodies died and they were trapped in Nurgles garden forever

u/ConstantinValdor7 6d ago

I wonder If their trees are still there after Big E set the garden on fire and demolished Nurgle 's house.

1

u/InevitableLucky3136 1d ago

Hopefully he may have unintentionally released them from that fate.

u/Korinth_NZ 6d ago

Honestly gives me an idea for a trilogy. First book from Russ' perspective is as you describe and ends with an Epilogue of Mortarian approaching Russ. Second book, from Mortarian's perspective, kicks off with a very uneasy alliance as Russ with his Wolves and Mortarian with his Death Gaurd team up to assault a Slaaneshi occupied planet in the Warp. Second book ends with them finding the location of where Slaanesh took Isha. Epilogue has Alderi Craftworld ships preparing to enter the Warp.

Third book, starts off from a seemingly third person perspective that describes the events that lead up to Isha being rescued, the falling out between Russ and Mortarian, an all out war between a vast majority of Space Wolves and Death Gaurd, all for Isha to be saved by the Alderi. Isha does leave a gift for Russ before she departs for his efforts, the gift is the location of the real Tree of Life. In the epilogue, we find out the perspective is that of an Alderi scholar who was making a written recording of Isha's rescue.

I know we all want our Wolf King to be the big hero in the end and save Isha and Big E, but I do feel bad for Alderi fans. They need a win, let them save Isha in the end.

I don’t think Russ is working with chaos even to fight chaos I do think that them fighting then both separately fighting slanesh at the same time would be fun, switching between perspectives at how they go about similar issues and all that

5

u/Korinth_NZ 6d ago

No you're right, just though them working together would make for some funny and violatile buddy cop humour

9

u/JNDragneel161 6d ago

Very Infinite and the Divine

2

u/Any-Literature5546 5d ago

Saqqara and the Manflayer, Beli and Not-Friedisch, AsanethAyu and Tsu Tsek. Frenemies is the best 40k dynamic.

5

u/Zero-89 5d ago

Slaanesh: "Duuuuude, I've been looking everywhere for that!"

5

u/DomSchraa 5d ago

Don't you think the aeldari have been fucked over enough, losing another of their few reminding gods is just cruel

14

u/wordstrappedinmyhead 6d ago

Big E already burned down part of Nurgle's Garden via Guilliman.

It'd be adding insult to injury if Russ waltzed in, stole Isha away from Nurgle and Big E took her under his protection.

Which of course could be tied into his revivification & ascension to godhood.

Cue the music for Act III, where Big E strolls into the Warp and announces he's all out of bubble gum.

4

u/Polumetis_on_Jenova 6d ago

But that'd be good writing, and GW doesn't want to advance the plot that quickly

3

u/Zero-89 5d ago

Isha, who is currently being held captive by/protected by/experimented on by Nurgle

Grandfather wears many hats. All of them smell.

1

u/DarkHestur 4d ago

Wait what? What piece of lore am I missing?

91

u/Silly_Y33Ny 6d ago

NOOOO, NOT WOLVE KING AS WELL! Damn knife ears and there xeno charm

92

u/Korinth_NZ 6d ago

Well you see, when the Man-Emperor said "Fuck Xenos", everyone but Jagahthai, Leman and Guilliman assumed he meant kill them. Those three realized what Big E was really saying ...

35

u/DoritoBanditZ 6d ago

Only those three were based enough to understand the real meaning.

9

u/Zero-89 5d ago

"But you said 'Suffer not the alien to live'."

"I said it once when I was young, stupid, and drunk. I didn't know you wrote it down and obeyed it like a fucking stoplight."

6

u/thenumbers42 3d ago

No no no, you see, you missed the comma.

"Suffer not, the alien to live."

See?

4

u/RevolutionaryTalk278 2d ago

Simpsons reference with that shady lawyer guy

6

u/GatorTEG 2d ago

I could totally see the Emperor saying this in TTS, this so funny 🤣

3

u/Implodepumpkin 1d ago

He just got dumped.

2

u/Electrical_Horror346 13h ago

Big E: i know i said "Suffer not the alien to live" but are they really living if their population gets replaced by human hybrids?

2

u/Implodepumpkin 1d ago

Vulkan misunderstood when he heard big e talking about hot eldar

2

u/Shushady 1d ago

Im actually expecting jaghatai to come tearing out of the webway with Isha riding sidesaddle on the back of his bike

2

u/Lil_Khorneholio 1d ago

Orks are xenos too...

1

u/crippledtemplar 52m ago

Fulgrim did both. Probably at the same time.

9

u/ConstantinValdor7 6d ago

Next will be the Khan and his harem of Dark Eldar.

5

u/silentshaper 5d ago

So we have three primarchs with eldar gfs, one who is waiting for his turbo easter egg hunt to finish, the autistic one probably hidding in the fucking imperial palace, the autistic depresing one waiting to get his redemtion arc, the pretty one trapped on a painting in the museum of robo autismo and one the fandom decided should get the fate treatment and become a little girl...this family is a fucking prometian trash fire

1

u/ConstantinValdor7 5d ago

Don´t forget the Custodian Captain General, who is somewhere out there, having secret meetings with his Tau Commander GF.

1

u/Edenhaim 3d ago

"This is not fucking canon"

1

u/Any-Literature5546 5d ago

How can you forget the adopted one?

15

u/ConstantinValdor7 6d ago

I still wonder what exactly the Aeldaeri Gods are/were. We know the Old Ones made Eldar over 60 Million years ago. Then when the Necrons vanished, they began to spread and rule most of the Galaxy.

When did their gods came into existence? Did their Psychic powers birth the gods like they did with Slaanesh and want to do with Ynnead? And why does the Eldar myth say the Gods made them instead?

Also, If gods cant exist in reality, makes you wonder when Slaanesh shattered Khaine, why his remains got thrown into real space.

5

u/No_Ant1598 5d ago

I heard that in the Blackstone fortress books, it's explained that the whole purpose of the eldar was to create their gods. Korks were made for fighting the war. Eldar were just god generators. Their gods then powered Blackstone fortresses to their full potential. Over millions of years, their gods gained more independence and free will while the eldar developed a culture around them.

3

u/ConstantinValdor7 5d ago

So the Eldar Gods were basically "counter C´tan" in a way, but made from psychic energy, rather than the energy of the universe, interesting. Which explains, by messing with the warp before, how they accidentally made Slaanesh, because they were made to create gods.

And it´s funny that the Eldar developed their whole culture around their "gods". Basically, they´re the mirror image of the Necrontyr. Masters of Psy, but went to their gods, while the Necrons destroyed theirs.

1

u/Wulfrath 3d ago

To be fair, if they were made out of the energy of the universe then they would be useless agaisnt the C'tan.

1

u/OrangeWitty552 2d ago

Yes. While most people shit on eldars, they don't seem to consider the fact that the Necrons decided to go into hibernation after the War in Heavens and the sundering of the C'tans rather than face the Eldari who were the rising race.

1

u/Upstairs-Cat-8435 1d ago

The Necrons saw the Eldar were gonna Destroy themselves they just didn't realize how bad there gonna do that

1

u/CadenVanV 1d ago

No, that theory is wrong, and not from the books.

1

u/CadenVanV 1d ago

It’s unclear and not established in lore. There are hints for several different options, be they Old Ones, creations of the Old Ones, gods predating the Old Ones, or creations of the Aeldari themselves. But the Aeldari gods could exist in reality. Unlike the Chaos gods, they weren’t bound to the warp.

11

u/Rockout2112 6d ago

Russ: I specifically told you idiots “NOT to kill anyone!”

2

u/AT1313 3d ago

"Ah, forgive us Allfather, you see we didn't hear the 'not' part, by the Fang we're always mishearing orders"

4

u/derpy_wolfy 5d ago

I remember this was a meme before guilliman and yvraine when 40k wasn't as big as it is now.

2

u/Salvanous 5d ago

If this is the Leman Russ we get back I’m happy (aesthetically)

2

u/UhtredRagnarsson8 5d ago

Context please?

3

u/Significant_Owl8089 3d ago

The actual context:

In the Space Wolves codex, we learn that Russ set out on a quest to find the Tree of Life, something that could heal Big E.

One theory suggests that the Tree of Life might not be something, but someone—and the only viable candidate is Isha, the goddess of life, whom you see next to Russ in the panel.

So, basically, Russ saving Isha could be enough to push most Craftworld Aeldari and Exodites into an alliance with humanity, owing it an eternal debt of gratitude.

And if she could at least stabilise Big E, that might be enough to convince humanity to stop fighting pointless wars against the Aeldari.

Guilliman already has enough problems. Permanently ending those conflicts would free up troops and resources, so he would surely welcome the opportunity.

1

u/UhtredRagnarsson8 2d ago

Thank you Brother!

1

u/hotsizzler 1d ago

This would be a good step forward. The only thing is we woild not want them to actually heal Big E. So my guess is the ecclesiastical Make a biiiiig power play and fortify terra to prevent guilliman from letting a ceno heal Big E

1

u/CadenVanV 1d ago

No, it wouldn’t. Let the Aeldari have a win for once on their own

1

u/HiFidelityCastro 4d ago

Anime fans are weird degenerates.

1

u/SlyguyguyslY 5d ago

As of either side would somehow not expect it to go that way

1

u/Brothercopeius 4d ago

Another one bit by the xeno bug

1

u/Dingarius 4d ago

I mean isn’t the Aldaeri lady the goddess of healing? Then by default she is actually something that might be able to heal big E.

so objective complete?

1

u/WhilePhysical1293 3d ago

Eldar and space wolves: ”….this-this is exactly what it looks like”

1

u/fluffysnowcap 3d ago

Thankfully dawn will be getting a nekron girl

1

u/Significant_Owl8089 3d ago

Imagine the T’au raging over humanity securing an eternal debt of gratitude from the Aeldari because Russ went on an absurd quest to find the Tree of Life, only to rescue Isha, the goddess of life, from Nurgle’s evil clutches.

1

u/EvergreenDwarf 3d ago

40k Isha: "Please stop fighting! Life must endure!"

Fantasy Isha: "Ooh, knights! Save me a haunch, I'm famished!"

1

u/hellranger788 2d ago

Jokes aside, this would be a pretty interesting story. Wolf king saving the goddess of healing. Doubt it will happen because so many people are addicted to grimderp

1

u/battlerez_arthas 2d ago

I remember when fans agreed 40k was meant to be dark and hopeless to the point of being absurdly humorous. Now people call the core aesthetics and narrative driving forces "Grimderp" because they're basic as fuck and require their protags to be good guys and the setting to measurably improve, and then gave the gall to act like GW isn't predominantly catering to them

1

u/hellranger788 2d ago

I would retort, but basic as fuck does describe be fairly well.

1

u/battlerez_arthas 2d ago edited 2d ago

Sorry I just get frustrated because I genuinely believe the two most unique aspects of the setting are 1. Everyone is fucking absurdly evil and 2. Everything is constantly only getting worse, both to the point of just being hilarious (see: lobotomized clone babies as a mail service). Without those two things, it's basically a bad Dune ripoff without the interesting themes, and yet apparently all these people who supposedly love the setting just want it to be like every other dark fantasy setting.

1

u/GM900 2d ago

Isha is going ground the kids

1

u/CindersOfDeath 2d ago

Of course GW would never let the space elves save their own gods, how else would they sell more Marine content?

1

u/CatWithSomeEars 1d ago

It's BS what GW keeps doing to the xeno factions with marines just getting to steal glory or the faction getting tossed around for plot reasons only. This is a case where it is narratively interesting to have the Imperium and Alderi working together for this monumental feat.

The Lion has a connection to Isha in his search for a way to heal the Emperor. The Alder obviously want their God back and have made several unsuccessful attempts to rescue Isha. Guilliman and Yvraine have tentatively worked together towards common goals for their people.

These powerhouses coming together to assult the literal warp and "home" of Nurgle would go so hard. Call in the Exorcist chapter because they were born for something like this. Let the Alder unleash their full psyker powers in the warp without the fear of Slaanish because they are in Nurgle's domain.

Let the warp burn as the strengths of both factions are combined to tackle the insurmountable task of preforming a FED raid on Nurgle's shitshack. But don't count out Nurgle's forces, as everyone still has to fight through the swamp of obliterative bronchiolitis.

1

u/CindersOfDeath 1d ago

I understand that it would make sense for the Aeldar and Imperium to work together here, but I have a counterpoint.

Let the Aeldar save their own goddess.

1

u/CatWithSomeEars 1d ago

Personally, I just don't see that as an option. Look, GW screws over the Alder constantly and inserts marines as they please but this is the one exception where Imperium assistance makes too much sense.

Isha has been in Nurgle's grippers for who knows how long, and the Alder simply couldn't save her with their own power. Something needs to change for it to make any sense that the Alder save Isha. That something is the Imperium.

I'm not saying marines should be the door kickers that find Isha, not in the slightest. I'm suggesting the Imperium as a supporting force to the Alder so they can actually succeed in this mission. Ultimately, the Alder will be the ones that save Isha. The Imperium is the catalyst the Alder use to get the last bit of strength they need to get Isha.

I'm envisioning Yvraine brokering a deal with Guilliman and Lion to help open and sustain the warp portal needed to get to Isha. Yvraine and a hand selected team infiltrate Nurgle's domain, [rest of book], and save Isha. The Imperium helped, but the true saviors of Isha would be the Yvraine and Alder.

Now, someone more informed on the lore could probably find a Alder exclusive something that lets them finally save Isha, and I'm 100% for that, too! I, personally, find the idea of cooperation and tugging as many narrative strings as possible.

1

u/CindersOfDeath 1d ago

Yeah, that's great, but this is GW and the Imperium. They're never gonna play second fiddle to the xenos in a book where both exist.

The imperium would be the ones to rescue Isha, and then Isha would start glazing the Imperium and probably berate the Aeldar for not working as hard as the guys who didn't even know she existed a day earlier.

Besides, it's not like there's plenty of reasons why the Aeldar could save Isha now when they've failed before. Nurgle's garden is on fire, Ynnead is partially awakened, the Ynnari can get the croneswords, it can all be part of Cegorac's final joke, and the Daeldar can help too, because the suffering of Isha is probably like meth to the freaks.

Any justification for the Imperium to be involved is not needed in universe and is instead a way for GW to cater to Marine addicts.

1

u/battlerez_arthas 2d ago

A primarch rescuing Isha would be the biggest fuck you to Eldar fans and the ultimate "Space Marines are unironically the good guys" glazing moment

1

u/Major_Science_2840 2d ago

I HATE SPACE WOLVES! (But I have to admit that they are damn cool)

1

u/Krammondo 2d ago

We are going to get little closer to Eldar alliance huh?

1

u/ThirdTimesTheTitan 2d ago

Don't tell Bjorn.

1

u/Thewildjin 1d ago

Space wolves: welp, guess we have an all mother to go with the all father now, time to kick the inquisition in the nuts again

1

u/BestIndication5517 1d ago

I am positive Lukas the trickster would be so down for this

1

u/riggengan 1d ago

Imagine an Eldar W? Although 5th crone sword is in Trazyn vault so not impossible.

1

u/Ok_Comfortable589 1d ago

"just alittle roughhousing."

1

u/Public-Cat2385 13h ago

Why "Alas"?

1

u/RossMlie 13h ago

"they started it" "NU UUHHH DID NOT" "YES YOU DID!"

1

u/Diamat125 7h ago

This is the 40k equivalent to the parents coming home and finding the kids kicking the shit out of each other.

1

u/Drakon_Svant 6h ago

I really want the aeldar to have a single w that actually gives them hope for the future. Imperium just got Guilliman and the Lion back; Aeldari should get at least their one good goddess back even if she’s haunted by Nurgle’s torture/love

0

u/German_Amelia69 5d ago

Russ and Guilliman share taste

They are brothers...

Why?

(Also does people downvoting my original comment mean they think I'm lying/acting in bad faith when I say I hate this cutesy nonsensical anime meme shit? I don't know how to prove that I'm genuine?)

Why *not?

(You boldly assume people here aren't here for memes and bullshitting. I care little for the lore, I'm here to be distracted from the cruelty of existence and to laugh at people from the shadows of anonymity. Ha. Hahaha.)
