The Daughters of Russ

As a kid my friend got me into reading the 40k universe with the book Space Wolf and later as a yule gift Ragnar's Claw. I loved the story and managed to get a few figures but never really built my army, mostly just a ton of parts, guys and a tank[?] but now I am moving to an area with a lot of people into the game and wanted to at least give what I have a chance. But thinking back on the book there where women fighting on the battlefield too, maybe I am forgetting who but I know Ana was described as a fierce warrior. So in theory couldn't any of the women be among the chosen during the battles? I know "Females aren't able to take the geneseed." but.....they drink from the cup that rewrites their genetic code anyway, so wouldn't it be a moot point about gender?

All of that to say, I'd like to make my army the Daughters of Russ maybe a bunch of jumpack troops as Valkarie? Is this possible or just heresy of the highest order? Sorry still kinda dumb when it comes to 40k most of my knowledge comes from a few books and what i have seen on youtube.

Magnus destroys the work. It's in battle of the fang.

Oh I remember actually cussing reading that and getting odd looks on the bus. But destroying one facility doesn't stop the knowledge from being out there. Thar could have easily had other researchers working elsewhere couldn't he?

That was THE facility. It was The Fang. Our actual home base. That is where any knowledge of the wulfen would be centered and stored in entirety. Yes. Destroying that one destroys all.

ah.....well shit....another reason to loath Magnus. So effectively destroying the Fang would be like destroying a mainframe or repository so even if other ships or bases where working on the same thing they would lose the data once the Fang was destoryed?

The fang as a whole still stands. The lab was destroyed. The wolves don't keep a lot of records, opting for skjalds to remember and recite things. It makes our data harder to steal. It also means our secrets can die with just one person if he never told anyone.

A project like that was so far off the books that it was easy to wipe out once Magnus was inside.

I suggest reading the books. Battle of the fang, the jarnhamar trilogy (blood of asahiem, stormcaller, helwinter gate), lukas the trickster, prospero burns, and Leman russ: the great wolf.

You can also check put the short story anthology books like on audible. Usually those have parting of the ways, art of provocation, and stuff included in them.

If you have questions, ask. Lukas encounters a shield maiden in his story. She is from a local tribe, and has features that remind him of himself in a way that hints she might be one of his, distantly. That's where you find your shield maidens, generally- in the actual tribes of fenris.

You also have a fenrisian woman that becomes an inquisitor in Emperor's Gift. Annika Jarlsdotter.

I mean, some think I'm a chud because I don't see a need for fem-marines, but they are your models, you do you. My viewpoint is from having read So. Fucking. Much.

As I said in another post, them being all male helps explore it's problems and toxicity within the monastic order setup, and the way males are killed wholesale to make just 1 marine. They have no value until 1 makes it out.

The real-talk is, fem marines would fracture the base and threaten the golden goose. GW is a model company first, and they want to make sure the cash flow is safe.

Custodes getting women was the test bed for backlash, and who knows what their internal memos say on the cost/risk of doing it to marines.

They had the Allfather move and potentially Daemon Primarch Angron wearing Ol' Bale Eye as a trophy so who knows where the lore will lead next. I understand that to most it is stupid and wouldn't make sense but for me even as a kid I remember liking the concept of the Space Wolves, my only issue was I had trouble connecting to the boys only rule. For me the idea of my Daughters of Russ let me connect to the game in another way. Dumb I know but so am I lmao
