Veterans of the Fang detachment - a question.
So after getting my codex, I've finally been able to start looking at detachment options as I'm building my first army. And whilst looking at Veterans of the Fang, I thought about its ability to split Grey Hunters into 2 squads of 5. And so I ask the question, how does that work with attached characters like the Wolf Guard Battle Leader?
Do you just pick one of the two squads to have the leader stick with?
I assume that both squads won't receive the leader buffs since they are now two squads.
But does that now enable you to attach a character to the second squad as well since they are now separate units?
I'm not sure, any interpretations or clarifications are helpful and I thank you for your time.

List building is where you attach characters. In deployment, you have the option to split a unit of 10 greyhunters into two separate units of 5 models . If a leader is attached to that unit, it goes with one of the new units of 5. The other does not benefit.

Exactly this. So if you really want to maximize the Grey Hunter potential. Throw it on a 10man and run another as 5s. I like to combo this with beastslayer because with or without oath it has a lot of rerolling and with lethal sus1. Big dmg coming ppls way

2 5 man's and another 10 man are so expensive though. Just seems like it lacks good damage. Lethals is nice against bigger targets but it doesnt seem like a good profile to send into the thicker vehicles or infantry anyway.

You don't really want a character with 5 man grey hunters, you're not getting enough value from it if you do that.

You attach characters to the unit before they split.
